Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Huntsville does not name exercise equipment in its curbside list or its bulk waste definition, so a treadmill, elliptical or weight bench is not covered by a published item rule. The definition does cover waste that cannot be containerized, and the city tells residents to confirm before anything unusual goes out.

Get it ready

Garbage carts, bulk items and yard waste go to the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day. The city code bars putting containers out before sundown the day before collection, bars leaving them out after the collection day, and requires them in place before the work day begins.
Bulk waste, white goods and loose yard waste go between the sidewalk and the curb, or in another accessible place the Sanitation Division approves. Tree limbs are cut to five feet with protruding branches trimmed, and the pile stays neat so it does not block the sidewalk, traffic or water flow.
There is no residential collection on the listed city holidays, and when a holiday falls on a weekday the rest of that week runs one day late, with the Monday route moving to Tuesday. Cost & conditions
No charge. Up to ten cubic yards of yard and bulk waste per collection each week is included in the standard residential rate of $21.50 per month billed on the Huntsville Utilities bill. Participation is mandatory for single-family residential customers.

Put the item between the sidewalk and the curb, or in another accessible place the Sanitation Division approves, by 7 a.m. on your collection day, and keep the pile clear of fire hydrants, fences, utility poles and wires.
The route serves single-family residential customers. Bulky waste, yard waste and rubbish from apartment complexes and from commercial or industrial premises that use a private hauler are excluded, and construction and demolition debris, contractor material, rocks, dirt, concrete, shingles, hazardous waste and medical waste are not collected.
Self haul in Huntsville means driving to the Solid Waste Disposal Authority's household hazardous waste facility at 1055 A Cleaner Way, open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and open rain or shine. That is where electronics, televisions, batteries, paints, chemicals, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, used oil, antifreeze, expired medicines and sharps go, and it is the reason none of those items belong in the garbage cart or the recycling cart. The city's item guide also says the Huntsville Landfill accepts appliances for a fee and recycles them through an outside contractor, but no address, hours or amount is published, so call the Sanitation Division at 256-883-3964 or the authority at 256-882-0155 before loading.
