Meriden does not provide weekly residential trash — the City's Transfer Station policy directs residents to a private hauler for household garbage. For appliances, four official paths exist and none is a same-day curbside option. (1) Self-haul white-metal appliances (refrigerators, freezers, ACs, ranges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves) to the Transfer Station at 226 Evansville Avenue at a per-vehicle gate fee of $10 sedan / $20 minivan or SUV / $40 pickup or single-axle trailer / $80 dump truck or U-Haul box; microwaves accepted FREE under "Electronics"; lawnmowers, trimmers, and snow blowers must have fluids drained first; hours Mon 10–2, Wed 7–12, 1st & 3rd Sat 7–12; cash or check, residents only, contractors barred. (2) The Parks & Rec curbside Bulky Waste pickup at $50 non-refundable per pickup, Wednesdays only, 8-item cap, list locked by the Monday before — and a two-person-carry rule that strands full-size refrigerators, top-load washers, and electric ranges. (3) For working refrigerators and freezers (10–30 cu ft, residential Eversource or UI customer), the EnergizeCT / EcoPlus free pickup with a $75 mail-in rebate via 959-274-0019; +$30 for a working dehumidifier on the same pickup. (4) Best Buy haul-away at $49.99 per appliance, only on a new-appliance delivery day, only same item class.

West Haven bulk pickup is limited to two designated weeks each year (April 20-24 and September 14-18 in 2026). Limit is 6 cubic yards (about 6 feet by 6 feet by 4.5 feet). No building materials, tires, mattresses/box springs, propane tanks, or hazardous waste. Piles over limit can be left at curb and fined $100 per day. Mattress pickup requires city-purchased bag ($30 first, $20 additional).

Milford Public Works bulk pickup (spring 2026) follows regular trash-day routes in four weekly waves beginning April 27. Items must be separated (metal, white goods, electronics, tires), small items bagged or boxed, and brush bundled to 4 feet or less. Excluded items include hazardous or liquid waste, propane/helium tanks, concrete, bricks, sheetrock, porcelain fixtures, logs, and stumps.

Shelton uses city-issued carts for weekly trash and bi-weekly recycling, but oversized pickups are not handled in regular curbside cart service and are routed to special disposal options. City rules also exclude hazardous waste, oils, fuels, solvents, and medical sharps from standard collection, and DEEP lists Shelton Transfer Station at 866 River Road as a local electronics drop-off location.
