Use a carpet-specific route when available
CARE provides carpet collection locations in San Diego County, but each site can have its own current hours, fees and acceptance rules. Check the selected site before transporting carpet, and ask the installer whether they can take the old carpet for recycling.

Prepare carpet for the receiving program
Follow the receiving program’s instructions for carpet and padding. Some programs may require carpet to be rolled and dry, and acceptance or fees are not universal. Do not assume every fiber, contaminated piece or padding type is accepted.

Where Dropcurb fits
Dropcurb fits when accepted carpet is already removed, rolled up and placed outdoors in an accessible location. The pickup includes loading, transportation and disposal, but it does not include indoor carry-out or guarantee a recycling destination. You can check the item price before moving it outside; have it ready outdoors and accessible before pickup.
