Every construction project in Aliso Viejo is covered by Municipal Code chapter 7.15, which requires at least 65 per cent diversion of construction and demolition waste with permits, deposits and receipts.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no curbside construction rate because construction and demolition material does not ride the curbside service. The permit packet sets a performance deposit tied to the project and requires receipts from CR&R or a State Certified Disposal Facility, so confirm the deposit and the hauling charges with the city and the receiving facility.
When & how
Submit the recycling and waste reduction form before or with the building permit, haul the material to CR&R or a State Certified Disposal Facility as the project proceeds, and file the compliance form within 60 calendar days after the final building inspection.
Get it ready
Separate recyclable and reusable material from landfill material and keep the receipts and weight tickets, because the compliance form has to be supported by proof of recycling. Treated wood, drywall, roofing and concrete each need confirming with the receiving facility, and paint, thinners and stains do not go in the debris pile: the county collection centers take oil or latex based paint, strippers, thinners, turpentine and stains from county residents.
Batteries, thermostats, fluorescent tubes, cathode ray tubes such as televisions and monitors, high intensity discharge and sodium vapour lamps, aerosol cans that are not completely empty, mercury items, electronic waste, medications and sharps cannot go to the landfill or the recycling center and have to be separated from the trash and recycling containers.
