Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Book the bulky pickup first, and set nothing out early

Bellflower bulky items are collected by appointment. Call CR&R at (877) 944-4716 at least 24 hours before your regular collection day, then put the items out no earlier than 24 hours before the pickup time. Each item has to be under eight feet long, four feet wide and 150 pounds, and car bodies, construction and demolition debris and anything needing more than two people to lift are not part of the programme.

The sidewalk belongs to the property owner

The owner of each property has to maintain the sidewalk and parkway next to it, and that includes removing bulky items placed there, whether by an occupant or by someone else. Since July 1, 2011 CR&R removes bulky items left on the sidewalk, in the public right of way or in the street without notice, and the city no longer red tags them or gives a 24 hour warning, so keep anything you want to keep on your own property and off the street.

Household hazardous waste never goes in the carts

It is illegal in California to put household hazardous waste in the trash, down the drain or out with abandonment, and Bellflower's automated residential programme does not take it. Motor oil, solvents, batteries, cleaning products, wood preservative, old paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, printer cartridges, road flares and expired medication all belong at a Los Angeles County collection event or a permanent collection center, which Bellflower residents can use free.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Bellflower does not run a landfill or a drop-off yard, so the routes are the franchise hauler and the county programme. CR&R collects three carts from each household and takes bulky items by appointment, with unlimited pickups at no charge for single family and multi-family customers when the items stay under eight feet long, four feet wide and 150 pounds; furniture, appliances, electronic equipment, clothing and tires are all named, while car bodies, construction and demolition debris and two-person items are not. Anything that cannot go in a cart or on a bulky pile has to be arranged: CR&R offers clean-up bins and roll-offs for renovation loads, and household hazardous waste goes to a Los Angeles County collection event or a S.A.F.E. permanent collection center, which Bellflower residents use free. Keep in mind that the city no longer red tags items left in the right of way, and CR&R removes what is left on the sidewalk or in the street without notice, and the property owner is responsible for keeping that stretch of sidewalk and parkway clear.
