Get it ready
Bag and seal the mattress before set-out, with a mattress cover from a hardware store or plastic wrap, because the hauler requires it until further notice. A mattress with bed bugs is not collected, and the store that sells a new mattress is required to offer free take-back of the old one.
Call the hauler up to seven days before the service day and no later than noon the day before, and describe the items that will be set out. A pickup takes up to five household items, the first one each quarter is free for a single-family home, items have to be liftable by two people, and loose trash is not picked up.

A household with a mattress or box spring that wants a route other than the quarterly bulky pickup.
Cost & conditions
No charge. The county lists no-cost mattress drop-off locations, free collection events and free retailer take-back for residential mattresses and box springs.
Arrange it
Use the county program's location finder for the nearest drop-off center, or bring the mattress to a mattress recycling collection event.
Mattresses from commercial business haulers are not accepted at the collection events, and a bed-bug mattress is not collected on the hauler's bulky route.
