Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is named nowhere in the city franchise material, the hauler's Chico brochure or the county's disposal lists, so a treadmill, weight machine or rower has to be confirmed before it is set out.
City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine by itself. A bulky pickup is part of the residential rate with an annual allowance, and the city rate schedule effective July 1, 2026 prices further collections at $73.81 for the first cubic yard with $20.13 per further cubic yard, so confirm whether the machine fits the allowance and what it would cost.
When & how
Ask Waste Management at (530) 893-4777 whether the machine can go out as one of the three individual large items, then book the pickup at least 48 hours before the usual collection day.
Get it ready
Describe the machine and its size when you call, and take the console or any battery pack off so the electronics are routed separately.

Will you dismantle my treadmill or carry it out of the basement?+
Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.
Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
Who collects trash and bulky items in Chico?+

Commercial collection was franchised to both Recology Butte and Colusa Counties and Waste Management in designated zones.
