Appliances, televisions, monitors, computers, electronics, carpeting, mattresses, car seats, toys and up to four tires go to one side of the cleanup pile so they can be collected separately. Place appliances, televisions, monitors and computers 1 to 2 feet from the pile, and keep everything at the curb rather than in the gutter and clear of the sidewalk and of carts and vehicles.

City residential addresses with furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, carpeting, bagged yard clippings, clean wood, plastic pipe, toys or up to four tires inside one 10 cubic yard pile.
Cost & conditions
No charge. Three cleanup days a year are part of the city's contracted residential collection service. The cleanup guide publishes no charge for a pile within 10 cubic yards; a pile set out more than 48 hours early carries an improper large item setout charge and a pile over 10 cubic yards carries a minimum excessive pile charge that rises with the amount of material.

Look up your street's dates on the 2026 cleanup schedule, watch for the door hanger seven days before collection, then put the pile at the curb by 6 a.m. on the day and no more than 48 hours early. Republic Services answers cleanup questions at 916-638-9000.
Construction material, treated wood, steel pipes, auto parts, boats, backyard spas, batteries, propane tanks, medical waste, liquid waste and household hazardous waste are refused, along with commercial or contractor waste. Some HOA streets have coordinated dates instead of the published street schedule.
Citrus Heights households have three cleanup days a year rather than an on-call bulky appointment, so anything the cleanup pile refuses has to go somewhere else. The county's two public facilities take it: the North Area Recovery Station at 4450 Roseville Road in North Highlands and Kiefer Landfill at 12701 Kiefer Blvd. in Sloughhouse both accept household waste, some recyclables and hard to handle items from anyone, they charge gate fees on schedules published separately, they ask that loads be covered and secured because that is the law, and they require fluids and removable batteries to come out first. Large appliances, electronics, mattresses, clean metal and up to four passenger tires are free when a residential load contains nothing but free items, and Kiefer alone takes clean bricks, concrete without rebar and clean asphalt, tiles, rocks and stucco, plus treated wood. Hazardous material goes to the drop-off facility on the Roseville Road site, which takes up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month at no charge.
