Three carts, and hazardous material stays out of all of them
Single-family homes use a green cart for green waste and food waste, a blue cart for recycling and a black cart for everything else. The City states the black cart takes regular waste only and excludes household hazardous material such as paint and oil, and Republic collects the material weekly.
Paper bags only for food scraps in the organics cart
Food scraps and a small amount of food-soiled paper go in the brown organics cart, or a grey cart with a green lid, and only paper bags may be used to collect them. Plastic bags are not acceptable even when labelled compostable or biodegradable, and compostable cups, plates and utensils are not accepted either.
A holiday on or before the service day shifts the whole week
When the scheduled weekly service day falls on or after one of the major holidays, service is delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. On all other holidays, collection continues as normally scheduled.
