Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named in the city collection pages, the county landfill fee schedule or the hazardous waste list, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed before it is hauled.
City cost & eligibility
No published entry covers an exercise machine. If it is accepted it goes in a loose residential load at the landfill, which charges 32 dollars per ton with a ten dollar minimum covering up to 380 pounds, so confirm the item and the rate with the landfill at 970-241-6846 before loading.
When & how
Call the landfill before hauling, then deliver during its open hours, Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. or Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Get it ready
Cover and secure the load, take the console, cord or battery pack off the machine so the electronics can be handled at the hazardous waste facility instead, and keep the frame out of the city carts.
Cover and secure the load before it leaves the driveway
The Mesa County Landfill requires every incoming load to be covered and secured, and the rule is enforced at the gate: an uncovered load is charged double, with no exceptions, and loads cannot be tarped on or near the county campus. A tarp or cargo net, a blanket, carpet or even a mattress counts as cover if it covers the entire load and is securely tied to the vehicle, while a shredded tarp or one loosely tucked into the vehicle does not count.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
