The old sofa can stop holding up your plans.

You know it needs to go. The price, the pickup day and knowing it is done should be easy to settle, too.

A replacement is on the way.

Give the old couch its own pickup day. Check what your retailer will remove, then book the part you still need handled.

The right sofa. The right price.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, sofas and furniture

Accepted with preparation

Sofas and chairs are named on the city's acceptable item list for the special curbside pickup, and carpet can ride the same pickup with a quote. A couch that fits the voucher load can instead be dropped at the Recycling Center free once a year.

City cost & eligibility
The special pickup is priced by the size and volume of the load and carpeting needs a quote, so call 970-962-2529 for the price. The annual voucher covers one standard pickup load of cleanup material at the Recycling Center at no charge.
When & how
Book the curbside pickup with at least a day of notice, or take the piece to the Recycling Center on North Wilson Avenue with an unused voucher, Tuesday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep the piece out of the trash cart and off the street until the pickup is arranged, keep hazardous material and electronics out of the same load, and roll or bundle carpeting so it can be handled.

The cleanup voucher has a size limit and a list it will not cover

The Household Clean-up voucher is for a City of Loveland resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee, it is valid for one year, it can be used once, and it is not available at the Recycling Center. The load cannot exceed a standard pickup load equivalent, about 2.7 cubic yards, and it has to arrive with household trash bagged and recyclables separated from the cleanup material. The voucher does not cover hazardous waste of any kind, which the city lists as computers, televisions, tires, mattresses, electronic equipment, paint, fluorescent bulbs, cleaning products, asbestos containing material, solvents, acids, degreasers, pesticides and adhesives, and normal fees apply to certain items the center takes.

The curbside special pickup runs on weekdays with notice

A special curbside pickup for an oversized item is scheduled Monday through Friday with a 24 hour notice by calling the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529, and the fee is based on the size and volume of the pickup and billed to the city utility account. The city's acceptable list names sofas, refrigerators, hot water heaters, mattresses, chairs, carpeting which needs a quote, and doors, plus televisions and other large items. A household that still has its annual cleanup voucher can drop the same item at the Recycling Center free instead.

Cart rules that apply all year and matter most in snow

Only trash carts with a closed lid are collected, and an overfilled cart is not acceptable. Since January 2, 2023 a resident may set out up to five 32 gallon or 50 pound bags beside the cart and a four dollar charge per bag is added to the next utility bill, with the driver's camera system documenting the count. In snow, the city asks residents to shovel a path to both carts, keep the carts clear of snow and off ice, put them as far into the street as possible rather than behind a snow bank, and leave two feet of space on either side for the collection arms.

Schedule the special curbside pickup

A household with a couch, a mattress, a refrigerator, a hot water heater, carpeting or another oversized item that will not fit the cart.

Cost & conditions
The fee is based on the size and volume of the pickup, with a quote required for carpeting, and the city reads it off the quoted load rather than publishing a schedule, so ask at 970-962-2529 for the price before the pickup is booked.
Arrange it
Call the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529, schedule Monday through Friday with at least 24 hours of notice, and set the item out as directed.

The pickup is billed to the city utility account, carpeting needs its own quote, and hazardous waste, electronic equipment that the center will not take, and anything the center refuses cannot ride this route.

City of Loveland Public Works Solid Waste Division

Use the annual Household Clean-up voucher

A resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee and has one load of oversized household material that is not hazardous or electronic.

Cost & conditions
No charge. One voucher per household per year, valid for that year and usable once, for a load of no more than a standard pickup, about 2.7 cubic yards, dropped at the Recycling Center. Vouchers do not cover hazardous waste of any kind, including computers, televisions, tires, mattresses, electronic equipment, paint, bulbs, cleaning products, solvents, acids, degreasers, pesticides and adhesives, and normal fees apply to certain items the center accepts.
Arrange it
Request the voucher through the city form with the account number, name, address and phone number, receive it electronically within 24 business hours, then take the load to 400 N. Wilson Avenue during center hours.

The voucher is not available at the Recycling Center, expires after a year and can be used only once, a load with unacceptable items is turned away, and household trash has to be bagged and recyclables separated before the load is accepted.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Loveland means the city Recycling Center at 400 N. Wilson Avenue, closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee can request the annual Household Clean-up voucher, which drops one load of up to a standard pickup, about 2.7 cubic yards, of oversized household material free, with household trash bagged and recyclables separated. Anything the voucher does not cover goes at the published fees: each mattress or box spring at the center's per piece rate, with an infested unit refused, and a separate charge for anything containing refrigerant such as a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit. Television and monitor fees are on a linked sheet, yard waste rates apply to non residents and commercial customers, and the center takes metal, small appliances, raw lumber, plywood, particleboard, pallets, shake shingles, concrete in pieces of 30 inches or smaller in a load of no more than 2.5 cubic yards, batteries and car seats. Hazardous material is refused entirely: paint, chemicals, solvents, pesticides, propane tanks, motor oil and fluorescent tubes go to the Larimer County household hazardous waste depot at the Central Diversion and Transfer Station, and the city runs a free paint and document shredding event as well. How much does couch removal cost in Loveland?

Can you pick up my couch today?
