Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Televisions, computers and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are a specialty bulky item and also a free drop-off at the Brevard County household hazardous waste and electronics centers, with all batteries removed first.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic drop-off is free to Brevard County residents at the county household hazardous waste and electronic recycling centers, with proof of residency possibly required, and the drop-off is capped at 10 large electronics per household per year.
When & how
Take the devices to the Sarno Landfill household hazardous waste center at 3379 Sarno Road in Melbourne or the county center at 2250 Adamson Road in Cocoa, both open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday, or book a specialty bulky pickup at least 48 hours ahead.
Get it ready
Remove every battery before the item leaves the house and take the batteries to the household hazardous waste center, because city and county pages warn that batteries left in electronics can start a fire. Confirm the route for a CRT or rear projection television separately, because the county electronics list excludes those sets.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

For a bulky item

Bulky items go out on the yard waste collection day, three feet away from storm drains, yard waste, carts and other obstructions, and they never go inside the garbage or recycling cart. Appliances need the contents, liquids and the door removed, electronics need every battery taken out first, and tires are limited to four standard vehicle tires per household per year. Call the ECO Division at 321-608-5080 or Waste Management at 321-723-4455 at least 48 hours ahead for a specialty item.

For a household hazardous waste trip

Keep products in their original labeled containers, never mix chemicals together, put leaking containers inside a clear plastic bag, pack the load in sturdy boxes cushioned with newspaper, and carry it in the trunk or the back of the vehicle away from passengers. Liquids are capped at 25 gallons per household per year, no container larger than five gallons is accepted, and the county centers take household material only, so business waste has to use the county's appointment program.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Melbourne runs collection through a city franchise held by Waste Management, and the city ECO Division at 321-608-5080 is the number for questions. Household waste is collected twice a week, recycling once a week on Wednesday, and bulky items once a week on the yard waste collection day, where the city takes furniture, bicycles and anything too large for the green cart, and where appliances, electronics and tires are specialty items that need a call at least 48 hours ahead. Everything hazardous goes to Brevard County instead: the household hazardous waste center at the Sarno Landfill on Sarno Road in Melbourne takes paints, automotive fluids, garden chemicals, batteries, fluorescent lamps and electronics free from county residents, and there is a second county center in Cocoa. Construction material is the one load the hauler will not take curbside, so it goes to the Cocoa landfill at no charge to residents, into a Waste Management Bagster, or to a rolloff or a booked curbside collection. County landfill, transfer station and hazardous waste center

Brevard County Sarno Landfill and Transfer Station

3379 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL 32935

The landfill takes asphalt, boats without motors, fuel or tanks, brick, cardboard, carpet, concrete, drywall, land clearing debris, lumber, metal scraps, empty paint cans, paper, piping, plastics, rock, steel, whole tires, white goods such as refrigerators and washers, wood pallets and yard waste. The household hazardous waste center takes aerosols, automotive and boat batteries, automotive fluids, cleaners, drain cleaners, electronics, fertilizers, fluorescent lamps, fungicides and pesticides, gasoline, lubricants, mercury devices, oil filters, paints, stains, sealers and solvents. The transfer station takes household and commercial garbage and cardboard.

The landfill prohibits CRTs and rear projection televisions, electronics and brown goods, fluorescent lamps, hazardous waste, batteries, sharps, treated wood, pressurized cylinders, propane tanks, containers over 20 gallons, motor vehicles and garbage. The transfer station refuses construction and demolition debris, white goods, motor vehicles, yard trash and hazardous waste. Household hazardous waste is household material only, with liquids capped at 25 gallons per household per year in containers no larger than five gallons.

The site is open Monday through Saturday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and the household hazardous waste center is open Monday through Saturday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Household hazardous waste and electronics drop-off is free to Brevard County residents with proof of residency possibly required, while the county publishes no disposal rate for material taken to the landfill or transfer station, so confirm the load charge before arriving.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Melbourne.

How much does TV removal cost in Melbourne?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Melbourne?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
