Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Osceola County takes bulky waste in the weekly round up to three cubic yards, and Polk County holds a furniture and appliance day once a month on a pre set schedule.
City cost & eligibility
Neither county publishes a separate bulky item rate. Osceola County includes up to three cubic yards in the weekly collection and charges for a supplemental collection through the hauler, with the county cap published as a rate per cubic yard, while Polk County includes furniture and appliance collection in the service billed through annual assessments. Confirm the item, the day and any charge with the hauler that serves the address.
When & how
Osceola County collects bulk waste once a week on the regular garbage day and may decline anything beyond three cubic yards, which can then be scheduled as a supplemental collection. Polk County collects furniture and appliances once a month on its pre set day, and the county publishes a furniture and appliance schedule for the address.
Get it ready
Somebody home enough to keep the load tidy matters here: in Polk County everything has to be within three feet of the curb or the edge of the street and at least three feet from other fixed objects and out by 6 a.m. on the collection day, and a pile that does not comply is left in place and can draw a code enforcement notice. Osceola County wants the pile clear of the cart and free of construction material. In both counties, keep the pile separate from yard waste and set out only material the household generated rather than a contractor's debris.
Neither county names bedding in its bulky list, so a mattress has to be confirmed with the hauler that serves the address.
City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers bedding. Osceola County describes bulky waste as larger household items such as chairs, tables and couches, and Polk County accepts household items that were not structurally attached to the house on its furniture and appliance day, so confirm the mattress with the hauler before it goes out and ask whether it counts inside the cubic yard allowance or as its own item.
When & how
If the mattress is accepted it goes out with the bulky round that serves the address, which is weekly in Osceola County and monthly in Polk County, and never before the set out window opens.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and wrap it so the crew can lift it without debris falling out, and add it to the same pile as the rest of the load so one visit covers everything. Ask when you call whether a box spring, an adjustable base or a bed frame counts as part of the same item or as separate pieces.
Osceola County schedules appliance collection separately from the bulk pile, and Polk County takes appliances on its monthly furniture and appliance day with the doors secured.
City cost & eligibility
Neither county publishes a separate appliance rate. Osceola County requires an appliance collection to be scheduled, and Polk County includes appliances in the furniture and appliance collection that is billed through annual assessments, so confirm the item, the day and any charge with the hauler.
When & how
Osceola County takes an appliance on a scheduled collection after a call to the hauler, and Polk County takes it on the monthly furniture and appliance day, curbside by 6 a.m. with the doors removed or sealed.
Get it ready
Remove or seal the appliance doors, because Polk County requires it to protect children and Osceola County asks for doors to be removed or sealed, and empty the unit of food, water, dishes and clothes. Ask how a unit that still holds refrigerant should be prepared, since neither county publishes a degassing step for the curbside pickup.
Electronics stay out of the curbside carts, and each county takes them free at its own household hazardous waste site.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households in the county that owns the site. Osceola County takes electronics free from Osceola households at the Bass Road Disposal Facility or the St. Cloud Transfer Station, and Polk County takes household chemical and electronic waste at no additional fee from Polk residents at the facility on Environmental Loop in Winter Haven, where businesses, nonprofits and other entities are not eligible.
When & how
Drop off during site hours. Osceola County's Bass Road facility opens Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the last chemical load at 2:45 p.m. and is closed weekends, and the St. Cloud Transfer Station opens Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Polk County's household hazardous waste facility opens Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage and the recycling cart in both counties, and treat batteries separately because the two counties give the same warning about lithium batteries. Osceola County asks for lithium ion batteries to be kept out of waste and recycling carts and for the terminals to be taped, and Polk County states that ordinary alkaline batteries are safe in the garbage while rechargeable batteries have to be recycled.
Both counties refuse construction material in the curbside carts, and Polk County takes residential construction debris at its Northeast Landfill convenience center.
City cost & eligibility
Neither county publishes a residential rate for construction material at the curb, because neither collects it there. Polk County's Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center pilot takes residential construction debris and its landfill publishes tipping fees, and Osceola County directs non conforming material to the contracted haulers or the Solid Waste Authority, so confirm the destination and the price with the county office or the private hauler.
When & how
Curbside collection is not offered for this material. Polk County's Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center opens Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the county landfill and transfer station run their own posted hours.
Get it ready
Keep construction material, land clearing debris, whole trees, stumps and root systems out of both county carts, because Polk County tags non routine yard waste and refuses construction debris and eviction loads, and Osceola County refuses construction material in the waste and recycling carts. Use a permitted commercial hauler for a project load; Polk County publishes a list of local haulers for non conforming material and bulky waste.
Exercise equipment is named by neither county, so the machine has to be confirmed before it goes to the curb.
City cost & eligibility
The counties publish no rate for an item they do not name. Exercise equipment is not in the Osceola County examples of chairs, tables and couches or in the Polk County description of household items, so call the hauler that serves the address and confirm whether the machine is accepted, which day it belongs to and what it counts as.
When & how
Confirm with the hauler first, then set the machine out with the bulky round for the address, weekly in Osceola County and monthly in Polk County, within the same set out window as the rest of the load.
Get it ready
Describe the machine when you call, including whether it folds down and how much of the curb it takes, because in Polk County a non conforming pile can draw a code enforcement notice. Take off loose weights and the console, break down what comes apart, and keep the pieces together in one pile.
Poinciana sits across the Osceola and Polk county line, and the collection that serves an address depends on which county owns it. Osceola County runs once a week garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk through Waste Management and can be reached at 407-742-7750, while Polk County runs once a week household and yard waste through GFL and FCC Environmental with a monthly furniture and appliance day and can be reached at 863-284-4319.
Both counties want the material at the curb before the collection starts. Osceola County sets the window at no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before and no later than 6:00 a.m. on collection day, and Polk County asks for household and routine yard waste out the night before or by 6:00 a.m. with collection running Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Three feet from the curb and three feet from everything else
Polk County wants the garbage cart within three feet of the curb or the edge of the street and at least three feet from other fixed objects, with the lid opening toward the street and nothing on top, and each bundle, bag or container of yard waste under 30 pounds. Osceola County wants carts within three feet of the curb with about four feet of clearance, the handle facing the house and the lid arrows toward the street, and a bulky pile clear of the cart and free of construction material.
Construction material, tires, car and boat parts, engines, propane cylinders, asbestos, explosives, biomedical waste and sharps stay out of the carts in both counties, and so does household hazardous waste such as lead acid batteries, used oil and oil filters. Paint, chemicals and electronic waste go free to the county household hazardous waste site, which for Osceola County is the Bass Road facility in Kissimmee and for Polk County is the facility on Environmental Loop in Winter Haven.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
Osceola County Solid Waste and Polk County Solid Waste, each serving the unincorporated part of Poinciana inside its own county line
Scheduled supplemental collection in Osceola County
An Osceola County household with more than the weekly allowance of yard waste or bulky material.
Cost & conditions
The county publishes a ceiling on what a customer can be charged for a supplemental yard waste or bulky collection, set as a rate per cubic yard, rather than a fixed price, and the amount is confirmed when the collection is scheduled with the hauler on 407-605-3892.
Arrange it
Call the hauler to schedule the supplemental collection, then set the material out within the county placement rules and no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before the scheduled day.
Osceola County takes up to three cubic yards or ten containers of yard waste and up to three cubic yards of bulky waste in the ordinary weekly round, and anything above that has to be scheduled as a supplemental collection rather than left for the regular truck.
A household with a load that does not meet the county collection rules, such as a renovation pile, a tree removal or a move out.
Cost & conditions
The counties publish no rate for a private hauler, so confirm the container size, the material, the pickup window and the price with the company, and ask where the load is going before the container is delivered.
Arrange it
Describe the material and where it will be staged, and confirm the destination, since Polk County publishes its list of local commercial haulers specifically for non conforming material and bulky waste.
This route replaces the curbside collection for the material rather than adding to it, because both counties refuse construction debris and land clearing material, and Polk County will not collect an eviction or move out load.

Before you book
A few things worth knowing.
Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Poinciana.
How much does bulk junk removal cost in Poinciana?+
A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.
Can you pick up bags of junk today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
How often are large items collected?+
It depends on the county. Osceola County collects bulk waste once a week on the regular garbage day, with up to three cubic yards, and anything larger becomes a scheduled supplemental collection. Polk County collects furniture and appliances once a month on a pre set day that follows the address, which the county schedule lookup shows.Official guidance
What will neither county collect at the curb?+
Construction material, tires, car and boat parts, engines, propane cylinders, asbestos, radioactive material, explosives, biomedical waste and sharps, and household hazardous waste such as lead acid batteries and used oil or oil filters. Osceola County also refuses construction material in the waste and recycling carts, and Polk County refuses whole trees, stumps, root systems and land clearing debris.Official guidance
Will a mattress be collected at the curb?+
Confirm it first, because neither county names bedding. Osceola County lists chairs, tables and couches as its bulky examples, and Polk County takes household items on its monthly furniture and appliance day, so call the hauler with the item, the size and the address before setting the mattress out.Official guidance
How does an appliance get collected?+
Call ahead in either county. Osceola County states that appliance collection has to be scheduled separately from the weekly bulk round, and Polk County collects appliances with its monthly furniture and appliance pickup. Doors have to be removed or sealed in both programs, and the unit is emptied first.Official guidance
Where do televisions and computers go?+
To the household hazardous waste site of the county the address sits in. Osceola County accepts computers, monitors, televisions, cell phones and detectors free at the Bass Road facility in Kissimmee or the St. Cloud Transfer Station, and Polk County accepts electronic waste at no additional fee from its own residents at the facility on Environmental Loop in Winter Haven.Official guidance
Which batteries belong in the trash?+
Only single use alkaline batteries in Polk County, and Osceola County likewise keeps lithium ion batteries out of the waste and recycling carts. Rechargeable batteries have to be recycled at a drop off site, and lead acid, marine and vehicle batteries are household hazardous waste rather than trash in both counties.Official guidance
Where does renovation debris go?+
Not to the curb. Polk County refuses construction debris in the curbside collections and opens the Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center for household, yard and bulk waste along with residential construction debris, tires and scrap metal, while Osceola County refuses construction material in its carts and leaves the load to a commercial hauler.Official guidance
Who takes a load the county will not?+
A permitted commercial hauler. Polk County publishes a list of local commercial haulers for the removal of non conforming material and bulky waste, and both counties expect contractor generated debris to leave with the contractor that produced it rather than at the curb.Official guidance
Does either county take exercise equipment?+
It is not named by either county, so call the hauler that serves the address before setting the machine out. Osceola County lists chairs, tables and couches as bulk examples and Polk County describes household items that were not structurally attached to the house on its monthly furniture and appliance day.Official guidance
Is my Poinciana address in Osceola or Polk County?+
It has to be established before anything is booked, because Poinciana straddles the county line and the two programs differ. Osceola County serves unincorporated addresses with once a week garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk collection through Waste Management, and Polk County serves its unincorporated households with once a week household and yard waste plus a monthly furniture and appliance day, billed through annual assessments.Official guidance
Who collects the waste in Poinciana?+
There is no municipal collection, so it depends on the county. Osceola County contracts the work to Waste Management, reached on 407-605-3892 with the county solid waste office on 407-742-7750, and Polk County contracts with GFL and FCC Environmental, reached through Polk County Solid Waste on 863-284-4319.Official guidance
How much bulky waste is allowed at once?+
Osceola County takes up to three cubic yards in the weekly bulk collection and requires anything larger to be scheduled as a supplemental collection. Polk County has no weekly bulky round at all, because furniture and appliances are collected once a month on a pre set day for the address.Official guidance
Is curbside recycling still collected?+
In Osceola County, yes, recycling is collected once a week as part of the curbside service. In Polk County curbside recycling collection has been discontinued, and a household may keep using its recycling cart for household or yard waste until the cart is no longer serviceable or ask for it to be removed.Official guidance
How do I get a second garbage cart?+
In Polk County a homeowner leases a second garbage cart for a published one time fee, with a convenience fee added for an online payment, and a damaged or missing cart is replaced free of charge though the cart does not transfer if the home is sold. In Osceola County the cart request goes through the county solid waste office at 407-742-7750.Official guidance
