Town 'n' Country is an unincorporated CDP in western Hillsborough County, about 12 miles northwest of downtown Tampa, so waste service runs through Hillsborough County Solid Waste Services online, not a city department (per Wikipedia / Town 'n' Country, FL; per HCFL / Solid Waste). The County's curbside contract covers weekly garbage, recycling, and yard waste, and that's it. Drywall, lumber, concrete, tile, roofing, and brick are excluded from both regular collection and Special Curbside Bulky Pickup (per HCFL / Special Curbside Pickup for Bulky Items). Set a stack of cabinet doors and bagged drywall on the curb after a kitchen tear-out and the truck rolls past them every week until someone calls a hauler or rents a dumpster. The County's bulky-item allowance does not bail anyone out either. Single-family residences get 10 cubic yards of bulky pickup per year, roughly five pickup-truck loads, and once that's used, residents must self-haul to a County Transfer Station and pay commercial disposal rates (per HCFL / Discarding Appliances & Bulky Items). C&D doesn't even count toward the 10 yards because it's excluded from the bulky program in the first place. The annual non-ad-valorem solid-waste assessment on the property tax bill covers disposal of household trash and up to 2 tons per year of self-haul bulky waste at County sites, but not C&D. After October 1, 2025, the County's C&D tipping rate at Southeast County Landfill went to $104 per ton, with a mixed-load surcharge that doubles the rate if C&D is dumped mixed with processable waste (per HCFL FY24 Rates PDF; per ScaleYourJunk / Tampa Dump Fees). Separation is enforced at the scale house. That landfill is the next wrinkle. Southeast County Landfill is the only C&D-permitted landfill in Hillsborough County, sitting in the Lithia / Wimauma area roughly 25 to 30 miles southeast of Town 'n' Country via I-275 and I-75, about an hour of round-trip drive time plus the scale-house queue, open Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and closed Sundays and County holidays. The closer Resource Recovery (waste-to-energy) facility at 350 N. Falkenburg Road takes processable MSW but does not accept C&D or tires, those get rerouted to Southeast County Landfill instead (per ScaleYourJunk / Tampa). The private alternative is Sun Country Materials Landfill (Waste Connections) at 11457 County Road 672, Riverview, FL 33598,, about the same 25-mile haul (per wasteconnections.com / Sun Country Landfill). Cross-county rate-shopping is closed off too: Pasco and Polk County facilities explicitly prohibit out-of-county waste, so a Town 'n' Country generator can't truck a load north to a cheaper site (per ScaleYourJunk / Tampa). This was absolutely the easiest experience I've ever had with a business. They have amazing communication including text. Pricing was extremely reasonable and service was quick. Their site is so easy to use. I was concerned this wasn't a legit company, but they absolutely are and I'm so glad I found them as I was quoted $1500 by another company in the St. Louis area. I was provided with photos from the pickup to validate that the items had been removed.
