Neither the city nor the county publishes a city-run electronics collection, but the county lists electronics among the items it accepts free at its chemical collection centres and also says they may go in the garbage.
City cost & eligibility
Sarasota County accepts electronics such as monitors, televisions, stereos, speakers, telephones and vacuum cleaners at its chemical collection centres free of charge for county residents, and its guidance also allows them in the household garbage. A city bulk appointment is the third route and carries a quoted fee. Confirm which route the household wants before moving the item.

The south chemical collection centre at 250 S. Jackson Road takes electronics, paint, batteries, chemicals, fluorescent lamps, sharps and used motor oil from county residents free of charge, Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Self-hauled garbage and construction loads go to the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis with photo identification and closed-toe shoes.

Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
