It registers private haulers, regulates the minimum level and nature of service they provide, and publishes their rate information, but it does not manage, control, regulate or negotiate the fees they charge. The posted residential service level is weekly curbside collection of a 90 gallon waste cart, a 30 gallon recycling cart and yard trimmings, plus a bulk waste collection once a month.
The city lists registered haulers and the rates they submitted, with a warning that the rates are subject to change and that additional charges often apply, including fuel surcharges, administrative fees and cart delivery fees. The city recommends that residents ask a hauler to explain all of its fees, and compare rates, before entering a service contract.
The annual summer bulky items recycling day at City Hall at 11360 Lakefield Drive takes electronics, large appliances, furniture, clothing, books, grills, lawn furniture, bicycles and more, with pre-registration through Keep North Fulton Beautiful, and each fall the city hosts a collection event for paint and household chemicals. Christmas trees are chipped on the first Saturday in January at the Home Depot on State Bridge Road.
