Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named in the city's bulky item rule, so a treadmill, elliptical or weight machine is a confirmation item. If the machine comes in under the published weight limit it can go out as one of the three bulk items on the service day, and anything larger has to be arranged separately.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no exercise machine rate and no unit list, so confirm the piece and the route with the City of McDonough at 770-957-3915 before it goes to the curb. A load that does not fit the bulk rule goes to a private provider, which quotes its own price.
When & how
Offer the machine on the regular service day if it fits the bulk rule, with carts and items at the curb by 6 a.m. on the pickup day. The alternative window is the city drop-off on the first and third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Take the console and any battery pack off the frame so they do not ride with the machine, and tape loose battery ends if the pack is a removable one. Keep the frame clear of the carts and the cart path, and keep the piece out of the recycling cart.
Three bulk items go out on your service day, under the weight limit
McDonough keeps the large item decision simple. The sanitation company services three bulk items on your service day, and each one has to weigh less than 50 pounds, so the count and the weight are the two things to check before anything goes to the curb. The household stream rides in the 90-gallon cart and the recycling stream in the 65-gallon cart, and the hauler will not service anything outside those carts. Carts go out by 6 a.m. on the pickup day, and the city schedule you were given when the water service started shows which day that is.
The city drop-off runs the first and third Saturday of the month
When the service day will not take the load, McDonough opens its own drop-off at 560 Macon Street, the site the city calls the old Mercer Building. It runs on the first and third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closes for lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and is for City of McDonough residential customers only. The calendar notes that the site is closed on the Saturdays the city highlights, that city hall closes for listed holidays, and that the city may close the drop-off at any time during its published days or hours.
