How to get rid of patio furniture and yard items

Sort patio furniture, yard waste and grills or fuel tanks into separate groups before choosing a removal route. Twin Cities ReStore accepts qualifying patio furniture and grills seasonally from April 1 through October 31. Municipal rules depend on material and location: NYC separates metal or plastic furniture from nonrecyclable wood items and excludes gas cylinders. Count the pieces and confirm the receiving program before setting them out.

Sort the items before contacting a recipient

Keep furniture, yard waste, and grills or tanks in separate groups. Count individual pieces and confirm acceptance before arranging a donation or municipal collection. For example, Twin Cities ReStore's patio-furniture and grill program is seasonal, while NYC311 uses different rules for metal or plastic furniture, nonrecyclable wood items, and gas cylinders.

Prepare items for an outdoor pickup

An item being outdoors does not automatically make it accessible. Move accepted items to an accessible outdoor location before pickup, and clear locked gates or other barriers. Do not dismantle a deck or cut structures apart. You can book before moving items outside, but the items must be outside and accessible when pickup occurs.

Where Dropcurb fits

Dropcurb fits accepted outdoor leftovers such as individual patio chairs, regular patio tables, patio umbrellas, and charcoal grills. For accepted leftovers already outside and accessible, Dropcurb handles loading, transport and disposal. Arrange an outdoor staging location and access before pickup; indoor carry-out is not available. If you cannot move the items outside yourself, use a service that includes indoor carrying.
