Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions are refused on the heavy trash route because they are treated as electronics that may contain heavy metals, and the county electronics recycling events take them instead.

City cost & eligibility
The county publishes the 2026 electronics recycling events and the accepted item list but no fee, so whether a television is free to drop off at the spring or fall event has to be confirmed. The events run at C&I Electronics on E. Inglefield Road in the spring and at the former Roberts Stadium parking lot in the fall, and no businesses are allowed.
When & how
Watch for the spring and fall electronics recycling dates, take the set to the published event location during the posted window, or ask the county solid waste district for the next collection if both dates have passed.
Get it ready
Keep the screen whole and dry, wipe anything that stores data, and never set a television out with heavy trash or in a cart, because the utility refuses electronics that may contain heavy metals at both the curb and the heavy trash pile.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Weekly carts go out by six, and nothing sits outside them

Republic Services of Evansville collects trash weekly and single stream recycling every other week on the same day, from the city carts. Carts go to the curb or the assigned pickup point by 6 a.m. on the collection day, and material outside the city carts is not collected except during seasonal yard service. Recyclables are rinsed and placed in the 96 gallon green-lid cart without sorting, a 48 gallon cart is available on request, and finished containers come off the curb the day they are emptied because the city can fine residents who leave containers or extra trash out.

Electronics, tires and chemicals belong at a county event or drop-off

The heavy trash route will not take electronics that may contain heavy metals, and it names televisions, computers and computer parts or accessories, along with auto batteries and tires, concrete blocks, bricks, steel poles, privacy fencing and hazardous materials. Those items move through the county instead. The Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District runs electronics recycling in the spring and fall, Tox-Away days for household chemicals such as oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, auto batteries, fluorescent tubes and propane canisters, a tire collection with the fall Tox-Away day for automobile and light truck tires with the rims removed, and free paper shredding twice a year. Latex paint, appliances and electronics are not accepted at Tox-Away days, and no businesses are allowed at the electronics events.

Take electronics to a county recycling event

A household with a television, computer, monitor, printer, laptop, hard drive, cell phone, DVD player, digital camera, modem, scanner or cables that the heavy trash route will not accept.

Cost & conditions
The county publishes the 2026 electronics recycling dates and the accepted and refused item lists but no fee, so confirm whether there is a charge before loading the vehicle. The spring event runs at C&I Electronics on E. Inglefield Road and the fall event at the former Roberts Stadium parking lot behind Swonder Ice Arena.
Arrange it
Watch the county solid waste district page for the spring and fall dates, then take the devices to the published location during the posted window, normally a Saturday morning. Copy machines, microwaves and appliances are refused, and businesses are not allowed.

The events run twice a year on announced dates rather than year round, they are for households rather than businesses, and business electronics are refused.

The county publishes the 2026 Tox-Away dates at the former Roberts Stadium parking lot but no fee for the drop-off, so confirm the charge and the accepted list before loading. Latex paint, appliances and electronics are not accepted.
Arrange it
Check the county solid waste district page for the spring and fall dates and take the material to the former Roberts Stadium parking lot, entering on E. Franklin Street behind Swonder Ice Arena, during the posted window.

Two dates a year, no latex paint, no appliances and no electronics, and the fall date also carries the tire collection for automobile and light truck tires with the rims removed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Evansville means using the Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District programmes and the two listed drop-off yards. Tri-State Resource Recovery at 1511 Harriet Street takes sorted glass, plastics 1 to 7, cardboard, aluminum cans, steel cans and mixed paper from Monday to Friday and on the second Saturday morning of the month, with bins reached from Read Street, and it refuses mirrors, china, ceramics and dishware. The Laubscher Meadows Landfill recycling area at 2121 Wimberg Road takes cardboard, plastics, aluminum cans, bi-metal cans and paper on weekdays, with no glass and no trash. Televisions, computers, monitors, printers, laptops, hard drives, cell phones and similar devices go to the county electronics recycling events in the spring and fall, and household chemicals such as oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, auto batteries, fluorescent tubes and propane canisters go to a Tox-Away day. Automobile and light truck tires with the rims removed are collected with the fall Tox-Away day, and confidential paper is shredded free twice a year at Wesselman Woods for county residents. None of these programmes publish a drop-off fee on the retained pages, so confirm the charge before loading. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Evansville.

How much does TV removal cost in Evansville?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Evansville?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does a television go in Evansville?

Not on the heavy trash truck. The utility refuses electronics that may contain heavy metals, and it names televisions and computers specifically. The Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District runs electronics recycling events in the spring and fall that accept televisions, computers, monitors, printers and laptops but refuse copy machines, microwaves and appliances, so watch for the published event date and confirm the fee before loading.Official guidance

Who collects trash and heavy trash in Evansville?

Republic Services of Evansville collects household trash weekly and single stream recycling every other week under the city programme run through the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility, and the same company runs the free heavy trash pickup that residents schedule by form or by calling 800-886-3345. The heavy trash route covers Evansville addresses that pay for trash service on their water bill, while apartment complexes, mobile home communities, businesses and county addresses are not eligible.Official guidance

What will the heavy trash crew not take in Evansville?

The utility refuses auto batteries and tires, electronics that may contain heavy metals including televisions, computers and computer parts or accessories, construction materials such as concrete blocks, bricks, steel poles and privacy fencing, hazardous materials, and items too large to fit a normal collection truck. Anything a two-person lift cannot handle, such as a swing set, needs a quoted special pickup through Republic Services at 800-886-3345.Official guidance

Where do Evansville paint, chemicals and tires go?

To a Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District event rather than the curb. Tox-Away days take oil-based paint, solvents and thinners, pesticides, herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, auto batteries and fluids, smoke detectors, fluorescent tube lights, fire extinguishers, rechargeable batteries, aerosol cans, pool chemicals, propane canisters and e-cigarettes, but not latex paint, appliances or electronics. Automobile and light truck tires are collected with the fall Tox-Away day and the rims must be removed, with no semi or tractor tires and no business tires, and the retained pages publish no drop-off fee, so confirm the charge before loading.Official guidance
