Desks and bookshelves
Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

The City collects large items at the curb during its annual Spring Cleanup, as long as bulky items stay separate from smaller or bagged material.

When & how
Spring Cleanup junk and debris ran March 30 through May 1 in 2026, with crews starting in Area One and returning to each area as often as they could during April.

Garbage, hazardous materials, liquids such as paints, oil and antifreeze, construction debris, tires and automobiles are not collected, brush is not part of the cleanup pile, and appliances containing refrigerant need a tag showing it was removed.
Elizabethtown residents with brush or cut trees too large for the curbside rotation can deliver them to the Public Works Facility at 1600 Nicholas Street, where the City accepts material over twelve inches in diameter or five feet in length that was generated inside the city limits. Contractors working inside the city are required to remove oversized debris themselves or deliver it to the same location. For anything the cleanup and yard programs do not cover, including construction debris, tires, electronics and scrap metal, the City publishes no facility, so call Public Works at 270-737-7890 before hauling.
