The local disposal guide
Shreveport collects garbage and trash from addresses inside the city limits, and bulky items are a request service rather than a fixed collection week. A resident calls Public Works at 318-673-6300 or files a Report A Concern, and the pile is then collected separately from the regular garbage on a future day, limited to one pile no larger than fifteen feet by six feet by six feet. Furniture, appliances and tires are the named acceptable material, with a four tire limit per request, and limbs and brush have to be under eight inches across and six feet long. What the city will not take is spelled out just as clearly: building materials from toilets to concrete, gasoline powered tools, auto parts, pianos, organs, swing and gym sets, trampolines, swimming pools and stumps, and it states outright that all construction and remodeling waste has to be hauled off by the contractor or the property owner. Hazardous material is not a curbside item; the city directs residents to a special hazardous waste collection through Shreveport Green.
