Flattened empty cardboard boxes tied into a bundle

One less thing to work around

Unpacked. Settled in. Still surrounded by boxes?

The new furniture is in place. The deliveries are opened. Choose the cardboard you have and get the space back, without turning a stack of boxes into a guessing game.

Pick the right unit.

A loose box, a ten-box bundle and a compacted bale have separate prices.

Choose with confidence

Boxes, bundles and bales are three different things.

A bundle is ten flattened boxes. A bale is mechanically compacted cardboard, securely strapped together and staged at an accessible loading dock.

Loose empty boxes.

Count each empty box as one item. Remove contents, plastic packing and foam. This choice is for the cardboard box itself.

Bundles of 10.

Flatten ten empty boxes and tie them into one bundle. Twenty-three boxes? Choose two ten-box bundles and three loose boxes. Count each box once.

Compacted bales.

Choose small for 50–150 lb, medium for 151–300 lb or large for 301–500 lb. Every bale must be securely bound and accessible from a loading dock. Unknown weight, no dock or over 500 lb? Ask our team first.

  1. Empty and separate.

Remove the contents and packing material. Set aside filled household boxes and add them as separate items if they are also going.

  2. Count boxes or confirm bale weight.

Tie each ten-box bundle together. For compacted bales, use the actual weight to choose the correct option.

  3. Prepare the right access.

Loose boxes and bundles need an accessible outdoor spot. Bales need a loading dock; keep them securely bound and tell us about dock access before pickup.

Cardboard and boxes

Accepted with preparation

Cardboard is broken down and placed inside the recycling cart, which is collected once a week and accepts corrugated cardboard and boxboard. The published exception is a large television or appliance box without styrofoam, which may be set out with bulky waste.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the city's contracted residential collection service, with no separate fee for cardboard and boxboard placed loose in the recycling cart.
When & how
The city publishes curbside recycling for St. Tammany Garbage District 1 on Wednesdays, and carts come off the curb once they are serviced, because a recycling cart left out on the garbage day is dumped with the garbage.
Get it ready
Break every box down and keep the material loose in the cart, because bags and plastic film are refused. Take styrofoam and packing material out of the box, and take delivery boxes apart rather than stacking them beside the cart.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Match the pile to your side of the city, not to your garbage day

Bulky and green waste is swept on the north side and the south side of Slidell on alternating weeks, and the crew starts the north sweep in the Breckenridge Subdivision and the south sweep at Carrol Rd and West Hall. Put the pile out on the Sunday night or by 5 a.m. Monday of the week the grapple truck is due on your side, because the crew works that side of the city once and does not come back until the next scheduled week.

Household garbage stays inside the 95 gallon cart

Bag the household waste, close the lid to within 6 inches of the top, and leave nothing beside the cart, because bagged items and loose items outside the cart are not collected. Put carts out the night before or by 5 a.m., within 3 feet of the curb and clear of vehicles, mailboxes, hydrants, poles and fences, with the handle facing the house and the lid opening facing the street. Round cans and cans with removable lids are not collected, and a recycling cart left at the curb on the garbage day is dumped as garbage.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Slidell's curbside program is the published route for a couch, a mattress, a major appliance or a green waste pile, set out on the alternating north side and south side sweep rather than driven anywhere. A household that wants to move the load itself has no published municipal drop-off, so the practical step is to call Coastal Environmental Services at 985-781-3171 first and ask what the contract will accept or arrange. A nearby transfer station in Mandeville at 68658 LA-59 takes self-hauled loads during published hours on the phone number (985) 893-5308, but it publishes no household accept list and no gate rate, so confirm both before driving there, and remember that its containers refuse paint, refrigerant, tires, appliances and electronics. Glass is the one material with a published free drop-off: the city and Keep Slidell Beautiful collect bottles and jars at the Heritage Park parking lot at the corner of Bayou Lane and Pennsylvania Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of the month. Renovation material and anything a hired contractor generated leave the curb program entirely and move in a roll-off container at a quoted price. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Cardboard pickup, from choosing your item to pickup day in Slidell.

How much does cardboard pickup cost?

One empty box is $59 first and $5 additional. A bundle of 10 flattened boxes is $79 first and $20 additional. Small, medium and large compacted bales have separate weight-based choices shown above.

What are the cardboard bale weight limits?

Small is 50–150 lb, medium is 151–300 lb and large is 301–500 lb. Each bale must stay securely bound and be ready at an accessible loading dock. Contact our team about unknown weights, larger bales or a location without dock access.

Can the boxes still have things inside?

Empty-cardboard pricing covers the cardboard itself. Use Filled household box for boxed household contents. Remove plastic, foam and other packing materials from empty boxes before collection.

Can I put cardboard in my regular recycling instead?

Check your local provider’s cardboard rules, including flattening, container limits and collection days. EPA recommends keeping paper products clean and dry. Dropcurb provides a separately booked pickup; a specific recycling facility or recycling outcome is not guaranteed by this booking.

Can I arrange same-day pickup?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.

Where should I put my items?

Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.

Where do cardboard boxes go in Slidell?

Broken down, inside the recycling cart. The contractor accepts corrugated cardboard and boxboard in the curbside cart, refuses bags and plastic film, and asks residents to keep recyclables loose rather than bagged. The only published exception is a large television or appliance box without styrofoam, which may go out with bulky waste.Official guidance

Who collects garbage and bulky items in Slidell?

Coastal Environmental Services collects for the City of Slidell, and the city's own Public Utilities page names it as the city trash company. Garbage runs twice a week on either a Monday and Thursday or a Tuesday and Friday pattern, recycling runs once a week, and bulky and green waste rides a separate grapple truck that works one side of the city at a time. The contract number is 985-781-3171.Official guidance

Which week is bulky waste collected on my street?

Bulky and green waste alternates between the north side and the south side of Slidell, so the pickup week depends on which side of the city your address sits on rather than on your garbage day. The north sweep starts in the Breckenridge Subdivision and the south sweep starts at Carrol Rd and West Hall, and each side is worked once per scheduled week before the truck moves to the other side.Official guidance
