Mattresses are one of the items the county names as too large for weekly trash and takes through the bulk item program, up to three items per scheduled collection.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Single-family homes and town homes inside Baltimore County boundaries, inside the two scheduled bulk collections a year of up to three items each, or at any of the three drop-off centers within the annual visit allowance.
When & how
Use the bulk collection date assigned to the address, or bring the mattress to a drop-off center during its open hours.
Get it ready
Set the mattress out after 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection, at the usual trash and recycling point. A mattress counts as one of the three items, so keep it separate from the rest of the load and keep liquids, tires, mirrors and plate glass out of the pile.
Trash, single stream recycling, yard materials and bulk items all go to the designated curb or alley point after 6 p.m. the night before collection. A container lid may not be fastened to the can with rope, wire, chain or springs, and a container holds its collection only when it is set out the night before.
The county assigns each single-family home and town home two bulk collection dates a year and mails them, so no request is needed. If a collection is cancelled for weather, the make-up is usually the next business day, and the county posts collection status for residents to check.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. Baltimore County residents, free of charge for up to ten visits a year across the three facilities. After ten visits the material has to go to the Eastern Sanitary Landfill, where a prorated tonnage fee applies.
Arrange it
Load the vehicle yourself and unload at the facility; the county states that attendants do not help unload bulk items. Bring the material during opening hours, and remember that no vehicle is admitted to the Eastern Sanitary Landfill after 3:15 p.m.
The three centers keep different hours and take different hazardous waste lists. Household paints are limited to 20 gallons per visit at the Central Acceptance Facility, and fluorescent bulbs are limited to 10 per delivery per day.
