Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station

Resident bulky trash, listed building materials, large appliances, metal exercise equipment and household electronics in their designated areas.
County-generated material only; bring residency proof and cover the load. Trash weighing 500 pounds or more must use the scales Monday-Saturday. No roofing materials. Ask about the correct entrance for trailers. The main tipping floor requires a high-visibility vest, hard hat and closed-toe shoes.
Monday-Saturday, 7am-5pm; Sunday, 9am-5pm through Shady Grove Road only. No commercial vehicles Sunday; check holiday hours.
Residential trash under 500 pounds and accepted scrap metal have no charge. Heavier trash is charged; confirm the charge for other materials and mixed loads.
Listed computers, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, cables and other electronics.
Use the marked bins at the front entrance. No kitchen appliances, microwaves or vacuum cleaners. Confirm TV acceptance separately; batteries use a separate program.

Can I book a pickup for today?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Your booking is for a pickup day, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.
Do my items need to be outside when I book?+
You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.
Can Takoma Park collect a couch or mattress?+
