The right sofa. The right price.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, sofas and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

The city does not collect furniture at the curb, but its free clean-up days take furniture from city residents at the Public Works drive-through sites.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Jackson residents only, at the free spring and fall City Clean-Up Day drive-through drop-off, because the event is funded by the city; Jackson runs no curbside furniture collection at any other time of year.
When & how
Check the city clean-up day page for the date and bring the furniture to the Department of Public Works Operations Center at 521 Water St., or to Nixon Park at 400 E. North St. when the fall event uses it, inside the announced window that has run 7:00 to 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday. Stay in the vehicle line and follow staff directions to the unloading area.
Get it ready
Load the furniture so staff can reach it from the drop zone, keep yard waste apart from the household trash, and leave anything on the refused list at home, because staff may check bags in the line and the city turns away appliances holding Freon, electronics, tires, batteries, paint or liquid waste, motor oil and hazardous waste.

Trash service in Jackson is a private contract

Jackson does not run a citywide curbside collection. The city's utilities page tells new residents they need to find a trash pickup provider and prints the approved list, and the city's 2022 refuse review said Jackson was alone among its peer cities in not providing garbage service directly or through a single contracted hauler. Weekly trash, curbside recycling and any bulky collection therefore come from whichever approved hauler a household signs with, while the city's own programmes are the autumn loose leaf collection and the spring and fall clean-up days.

The clean-up day is a drive-through event for residents

The free City Clean-Up Day runs every spring and fall and is open to City of Jackson residents because the city funds it. Loads move through organised drive-through lines at the Department of Public Works Operations Center at 521 Water St., and the fall event also uses Nixon Park at 400 E. North St. Drivers stay in their vehicles, staff point them to the right unloading area, and residents help unload when they can. Yard waste, general household trash, boxes and furniture are accepted, while batteries, tires, kitchen garbage, paint or liquid waste, appliances holding Freon, hazardous waste, electronics and motor oil are refused, and staff may check bags in the line.

Self-haul to the disposal center on Woodworth Road

A household with a truck or trailer load of household trash, bulky items, a Freon appliance, construction debris or yard waste that would rather pay by weight or by item than book a hauler.

Cost & conditions
From $4.13 per 30-gallon bag of household trash, with bulk items at $37.20 each, Freon units at $66.82 each with the doors removed, construction and loose trash at $77.15 per ton under a two-ton minimum, and yard waste from $4.47 a paper bag. Self-haul to Granger's Disposal Center of Jackson at 555 Woodworth Rd during its weekday and Saturday hours, and pay by card because cash is not accepted.
Arrange it
Load and cover the load, drive to 555 Woodworth Rd, and pay at the gate by Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.

Loose trash and construction waste carry a two-ton minimum, yard waste has to be in paper bags, a variable fuel charge is added to each transaction, and prices can change.

Put the load on a trash hauler's route

A household that would rather have weekly trash, curbside recycling or a bulky item collected from the property than haul it somewhere.

Cost & conditions
Each approved hauler sets its own cart sizes, service days and charges, and the city does not publish a rate, so ask the provider for a quote. Emmons Service, for one, sells curbside recycling as an optional add-on rather than folding it into the base trash service.
Arrange it
Choose a provider from the city's approved list, set up service, and ask about the extra charge for a bulky item or an appliance when you book.

Bulky items, appliances holding Freon and construction material are usually a separate arrangement from the weekly cart, and the city does not collect them, so confirm what the hauler will take before the pickup day.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Jackson runs through one commercial disposal center plus the county's drop-off organisations. Granger's Disposal Center of Jackson at 555 Woodworth Rd opens Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, and takes household trash in 30-gallon bags, loose trash and construction waste by the ton under a two-ton minimum, bulk items such as furniture, mattresses, box springs and large televisions, appliances with a higher rate for a unit holding Freon and yard waste in paper bags. The county's recycling pages list drop-off organisations rather than a county facility: a first Saturday community collection on North Brown Street, Emmons Service on Water Street on weekdays and Saturday morning, and LRS on Brooklyn Road on weekdays, with the Conservation District named as the lead organisation. Household hazardous waste waits for a Conservation District collection, which runs two or three times a year by reservation for a per vehicle charge at the Jackson County Department of Transportation. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Couch removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Jackson.

How much does couch removal cost in Jackson?

A standard sofa is $79 as the first item and $29 additional. Sectionals, sleepers and reclining sofas have their own choices. Select everything that is going to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can you pick up my couch today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the couch outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We send pickup updates and photos when it is done; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

How do I book a sectional for removal?

Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. The matching catalog choice covers one complete sectional of that configuration. Text a photo before booking if you are unsure.

Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.

Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?

You do not need to be home when your booked sofa is outside and accessible. Add photos and pickup-location notes to your order so the right pieces are easy to identify. We send updates and completion photos. Confirm any building access restrictions with us before booking.

Where can I take a couch in Jackson?

The city does not collect furniture at the curb. The free route is the City Clean-Up Day, which runs every spring and fall for City of Jackson residents only, over drive-through lines at the Department of Public Works Operations Center on Water Street and, in the fall, at Nixon Park on East North Street. Furniture, boxes, general household trash and yard waste are accepted there, and anything the event refuses has to be handled another way.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Jackson?

Household trash is a private arrangement. The city's utilities page tells new residents they need to find a trash pickup provider and prints the City-approved list, which runs from Allied Waste Services and Buckner's Garbage Service through Emmons Service, Granger, Modern Waste and Mohawk Refuse. The city itself collects loose leaves in the autumn and runs the spring and fall clean-up days, and the weekly cart, the recycling service and the collection day all come from the hauler the household chooses.Official guidance

What can I take to the Jackson City Clean-Up Day?

The free event runs every spring and fall for City of Jackson residents only, over drive-through lines at the Department of Public Works Operations Center on Water Street and, in the fall, at Nixon Park on East North Street. Accepted items are yard waste including brush and grass clippings, general household trash, boxes and furniture. Refused items are batteries, tires, kitchen garbage, paint or liquid waste, appliances that contain or have held Freon, hazardous waste, electronics and motor oil, and staff may check bags in the line.Official guidance

How do I choose a trash hauler in Jackson?

Start with the City-approved provider list on the city utilities page, which is where the city directs new residents. The haulers run their own services on top of the weekly cart: Emmons Service sells an optional curbside recycling cart to its customers and keeps a drop-off yard on Water Street, and the county page notes that Granger picks up recycling bi-weekly for its customers. Charges, cart sizes and collection days come from the provider rather than from the city.Official guidance
