When & how
Take the television, computer or monitor to the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center at 2115 East Club Boulevard during staffed hours, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and be inside the gate at least 15 minutes before closing.
Get it ready
Remove personal data before the device leaves the house, keep electronics out of every cart, and bring your own help for unloading because staff direct traffic rather than lift items.
Building materials, car parts, construction debris, dirt, electronics, food scraps, glass, mirrors, windows, loose leaves, propane tanks, televisions, tires, tree stumps, wood, pallets and lumber are prohibited from the curbside service and go to the City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center at 2115 East Club Boulevard instead.
A holiday normally pushes collection back one business day. If a cart was not serviced by 4:30 p.m. on the collection day, report the miss to Durham One Call at 919-560-1200, and report a missed yard waste collection no later than the Monday after the miss by 4:30 p.m.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
Durham's self-haul route runs to 2115 East Club Boulevard, where the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, the Household Hazardous Waste Center and the Yard Waste Facility sit at one address and serve city and county residents. All three open Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the gate closing to new arrivals 15 minutes earlier, and payment is by credit or debit card or a verified disposal account because cash is not accepted. Non-commercial vehicles pay a flat rate that depends on the vehicle and how full the load is, while commingled recycling, cardboard, white goods such as large appliances, scrap metal, textiles, cooking oil and e-waste are free, and household hazardous waste carries no fee at all. Customers unload their own material. County convenience sites are a separate program for unincorporated county addresses that display the county solid waste decal, so a City of Durham address does not use them.
