The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and computers are refused in the recycling cart and have no published curbside route, so they go to the free annual America Recycles Day event or to a Nash County convenience center with a permit.
City cost & eligibility
No curbside electronics pickup is published, the event date still shown on the city and county pages is the November 8, 2025 date, and the county convenience center permit price is not printed, so confirm the next event date or the permit cost before loading a screen.
When & how
The published event runs 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Golden East Crossing Mall JC Penney parking lot on 1100 North Wesleyan Blvd, and the county convenience centers take electronics during their attendant hours, which close every Tuesday.
Get it ready
Keep the screen out of the recycling cart and out of the rollout cart, wipe or remove the drive before recycling a computer, and take televisions, monitors, computers, printers, cameras, telephones and small kitchen appliances to the event or to a county center with the permit visible at the site.
Hazardous material and building debris never go to the curb
Wet paint, motor oil, flammable liquids, hot ashes and other hazardous material stay out of every cart, and building material such as lumber, bricks, roofing, carpet and sheetrock is not residential solid waste and is never collected from the curb.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

A household with electronics, confidential documents, prescription medications or household hazardous waste such as paint, automotive fluids, pesticides and compact fluorescent bulbs.
Cost & conditions
No charge. The published event is described as a free way to dispose of these materials, with the published date of Nov. 8, 2025 at the Golden East Crossing Mall JC Penney parking lot on 1100 North Wesleyan Blvd and the date announced each year on the county solid waste page.
Arrange it
Watch for the annual date, then bring the material to the published lot between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and keep the container labels intact and the chemicals separate from any recycling load.
The date on the city and county pages is the November 8, 2025 date, so confirm the next one before loading. This is a one day drop-off rather than a standing site, and nothing hazardous goes in the city carts in the meantime.

Nash County convenience center drop-off
A household with bulky items, electronics, tires or a small construction load that holds a Nash County Convenience Center Permit.
Cost & conditions
The county does not print the permit price. A household inside a municipality is not issued a permit with the tax bill but can buy one at the county landfill, where a three-year permit for a municipal household with weekly city collection is prorated by the year of the cycle, so confirm the current cost at 252-462-2064.
Arrange it
Apply for the permit, keep the hangtag visible at the site, and load with the limits in mind: bulky items such as couches and mattresses are accepted, construction waste is capped at 200 pounds per load with lumber cut to six feet, and tires are limited to five per trip with every tire off the rim.
No commercial contractor waste, no wet paint, stains, varnishes or other solvents, no appliance that contains refrigerant, no bricks, asphalt, concrete or shingles, no animal carcasses or waste, no auto parts, and every site is closed on Tuesday.

Household garbage, recyclables, yard waste, bulky items such as couches, mattresses, tables, chairs and other non-metal furniture, construction and demolition waste up to 200 pounds per load, tires, batteries, wooden pallets, electronics, fluorescent light bulbs, cooking oil, oil filters and motor oil, all with a valid Nash County permit visible at the site.
A valid Nash County Convenience Center Permit hangtag is required, and a household inside a municipality does not receive one with the tax bill but can buy a permit at the county landfill. No commercial contractor waste, no wet paint, stains, varnishes, diesel, gasoline or other solvents, no appliance containing chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant, no bricks, asphalt, concrete or shingles, no animal carcasses, animal waste or auto parts, and no agricultural, industrial, institutional, liquid, hazardous, municipal or radioactive waste. Construction waste is capped at 200 pounds per load with lumber cut to six feet or less, and non-commercial tires are limited to five light truck or passenger tires per trip with every tire off the rim.
Attendant hours are Monday 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., closed every Tuesday, Wednesday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. from March 15 through October 15, with those same days closing at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 5:30 p.m. from October 16 through March 14, and closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Can wood, electronics or building material go in the recycling cart?+
No. The recycling cart takes plastic, glass and aluminum only, and the city states plainly that food, clothing, wood, electronics and building material do not belong in it.
