Keep the load to two items, tie lumber and cut rugs to four foot lengths, put the pieces neatly at the curb rather than in the street, and bring the empty containers back in the same day, because the city enforces these rules and a breach can draw a summons.
Twice a week, three containers, nothing before 6 PM
Clifton collects garbage twice a week across six days of collection, and the only day the city skips is Christmas Day. Each collection is limited to three barrels or securely tied plastic bags, and the containers cannot exceed 35 gallons. Everything goes neatly to the curb after 6 PM the night before, never into the street, and the empty receptacles come back in the same day and are stored out of sight behind the home. Dirt, stones, brick, concrete and hazardous waste are not allowed in the garbage, and collection questions go to 973-470-2239.
Bulk waste has one window a week and a two item ceiling

Clifton allows a maximum of two items on that first collection, lumber and rugs have to be cut to four foot lengths and tied, and nothing goes out on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. A piece that misses the window waits for the following week.
