West Linn Refuse & Recycling, the city's franchised hauler, runs a Personalized Clean-up Day for residential customers inside city limits with an account in good standing, scheduled once within the calendar year by calling 503-557-3900 at least a week before the regular collection day. Appliances, electronics, mattress sets, furniture, metal items, carpet and up to five refuse cans can be placed out, but participation is one of four published allowances: five bags or bundles of non-putrescible items at up to 60 pounds each, up to two large bulky appliances, two large bulky items, or five items of e-waste, and additional items may be scheduled for an extra fee. Construction debris such as concrete, plaster and dirt is refused, oversized items such as pianos and hot tubs are refused, tires are refused, and appliances containing freon such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are refused while washers, dryers, water heaters and stoves without freon are accepted. For the refused material the published routes are county and statewide: Oregon E-Cycles collection sites take up to seven qualifying electronics at a time for free recycling, PaintCare recycles paint, primers, stains and sealers at no fee, the Metro South Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2001 Washington St in Oregon City takes household chemicals daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. except the three major holidays, and self hauled loads can go to the Clackamas County Transfer Station at 19600 SE Canyon Valley Rd in Sandy, open Thursday to Monday with a last load at 4:30 p.m., or to the Metro South Transfer Station on the same Oregon City site, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the warmer months and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in winter, with asbestos testing and documentation required before construction, demolition or remodeling debris is disposed of.
