When & how
Call the city or the county and confirm the route before the set leaves the house, then put it out only for a confirmed collection.
Get it ready
Keep the set dry and out of the roll cart, and do not leave it at the curb while the route is still unconfirmed.
Garbage goes bagged inside the gray roll cart with the lid closed, recyclables go loose in the blue cart and are never bagged, carts are at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on the collection day with 3 feet of clearance from cars, mailboxes and other objects, and paint and liquids, televisions, electronics, tires and yard trimmings stay out of the carts.
