You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky items are collected on the same day as the trash route but every other week, and the pickup has to be called in the business day before.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Each household gets three free bulk pickups a year, and after that quota is used a pickup costs a published flat charge per pickup plus the landfill tipping fees. A special or oversized pickup carries the same flat charge plus tipping. All of it is arranged through Public Works on 931-388-8650.
When & how
Call Public Works no later than 2:00 p.m. on the business day before your collection day, confirm whether the address is on route A or route B, and have the items at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on the pickup day.
Get it ready
Keep the pile to household bulky material, because demolition debris such as rocks, dirt, tree stumps, wall board, plaster, bricks and building scraps is refused, along with electronics, tires, glass or mirrors and anything holding refrigerant. Never mix bulky items into a brush pile, since brush is only collected when it is nothing else.
Scrap metal is accepted free of charge at the Maury County transfer station on Lawson White Drive, while the city collection refuses metal items with electronics.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The county states that scrap metal is accepted at the transfer station at no charge. Businesses must file a W-9, an insurance certificate and a county business licence and be accepted as a customer before hauling, so a resident should confirm access on 931-375-6401 before arriving with a load.
When & how
Take the metal to 1233 Lawson White Drive on a weekday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., noting the lunch closure from noon to 12:30 p.m., and confirm the access rules first by phone.
Get it ready
Keep metal separated from household trash so it can be handled as its own load, drain fuel and oil from anything motorised, and keep refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners out of the metal load because those units are handled separately with the refrigerant in mind.
The city refuses anything charged with refrigerant, and the county convenience centres take empty refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners at no charge.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are accepted free at Maury County convenience centres when the unit is empty, and the centres are for county residents with proof of residency only, with loads limited to two cubic yards a day.
When & how
Take the unit to one of the nine county convenience centres, which open Monday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and close on the county holidays, or call the county on 931-375-6401 with a question about a specific unit.
Get it ready
Empty the unit before the trip and keep it out of the city trash cart and any bulky pile, because the city refuses refrigerators, air conditioners and anything charged with refrigerant gas. Bring proof of residency, and keep the load within the two cubic yard daily limit.
Carts go to the street by 5:00 a.m. on the collection day with the white serial numbers facing the street and four feet of clearance around and between them. All trash has to be bagged inside the can and nothing is collected outside it, recycling is never bagged, and misuse of a recycling cart means the cart is confiscated. Containers come off the street once they are empty under the city ordinance.
Bulky items share the trash day but only every other week, so the pickup has to be called in no later than 2:00 p.m. on the business day before, and the household should confirm whether it is on route A or route B. Three pickups a year are free, the rest are charged a flat rate plus tipping fees, and everything goes to the curb by 5:00 a.m.
Demolition debris including rocks, dirt, tree stumps, wall board, plaster, bricks and building scraps is refused, along with electronic items such as televisions, computers and appliances, tires, glass and mirrors, and refrigerant items such as refrigerators, air conditioners and anything charged with refrigerant gas. Those loads go to Maury County Solid Waste instead of the curb.
When a holiday falls on a collection day the city empties the route on the alternate date printed in the 2026 holiday schedule, so a Thursday Thanksgiving route runs on Wednesday and a Friday Christmas route runs on the following Monday. During holiday weeks carts stay at the street until they are empty, double routes can run late, and a cart that was missed should stay out with a call to Public Works at 931-388-8650 the next business day.
The nine Maury County convenience centres take refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners when the unit is empty, televisions and other electronics, lead and lithium batteries, and latex or oil paint, with paint limited to five gallons a day per household. The centres are for county residents only, need proof of residency, cap a load at two cubic yards a day and refuse commercial waste, and the transfer station on Lawson White Drive takes scrap metal at no charge.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
