A mattress goes out on the city bulky collection by appointment, and the city counts a mattress with its matching box spring as one item. The county also runs a mandatory mattress recycling programme with a published fee for each piece.

The city charges are added to the water bill, and only the person listed on the water bill may schedule the pickup. Get it ready
Keep the mattress and its matching box spring together so they count as one item, put the piece on your own property no less than five feet from the curb, and do not place it out before 7 p.m. the day before or later than 7 a.m. on the collection day. Nothing else is collected in the same stop.
Murfreesboro provides a free 96 gallon cart emptied once a week and collects household garbage and yard waste Monday through Thursday. Refuse has to be bagged or wrapped before it goes in the container, personal trash cans are not serviced, and anything left loose beside the cart is not collected.
