Tires

Not on the regular city route

Tires are excluded from both the garbage and recycling collection and the bulky item service, and the Compost Site refuses them. The only published route is the Pine Hill Landfill, which takes a tire only when it has been split, quartered or shredded.

City cost & eligibility
Longview publishes no tire price. The landfill charges a tipping fee and gives Longview residents with sanitation service a discount that is quoted by the operator, so the amount is confirmed with Republic Services at 800-678-7274 or at the gate.
When & how
Take tires to the Pine Hill Landfill during its gate hours, Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and do not put them out with the carts or in a bulky pile, where material collected undetected is returned to the address.
Get it ready
Split, quarter or shred every tire before the trip, because an unsplit tire is refused at the gate. Keep the load tarped, which the law requires on the road, and leave rims and wheels off if the tire is going in as a tire rather than as scrap.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Carts are out before 7:30 a.m. with everything inside them

Trash and recyclables have to fit fully inside the city-provided carts, and the carts need at least four feet of clearance from cars, trees, trailers and mailboxes, with nothing parked in front of them. Carts go out before 7:30 a.m. on the collection day, leaving them out the night before is allowed, and blocked or improperly placed carts are not serviced.

Garbage and recycling services guidelines: material inside the carts, four feet of clearance, the 7:30 a.m. set-out time and the city-provided cart requirement

Recycling is collected the day after trash day

Recycling now runs one day after the scheduled trash day, and a blue-lidded cart put out early on trash day is skipped and serviced the following day. A cart with household trash or other non-recyclable material in it is tagged and can be removed from the property, so keep styrofoam, clothing, wood, yard waste, bags and food out of the blue cart.

Tarp the load and prepare appliances and tires before Pine Hill

By law every load must be tarped on the way to the Pine Hill Landfill. A tire is refused unless it has been split, quartered or shredded, a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit is refused unless the refrigerant was removed by a certified technician whose certification letter comes with the unit, and oil, oil filters and lead acid batteries are not accepted at the site at all.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

A Longview household that hauls its own load has two destinations. The Compost Site at 2020 Swinging Bridge Rd takes yard waste free from sanitation customers with a current water bill and matching driver's license, turns it into compost and mulch, and also takes glass, and it refuses cross ties, rocks, concrete, construction and demolition waste, pallets, sheetrock, ceramic tile, roofing, landscape timbers, lumber, fence posts, metal, appliances and tires. Everything else goes to the Pine Hill Landfill south of Longview near Highway 31 and FM 1252, which is operated by Republic Services rather than the city, is open Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and gives Longview residents with sanitation service a discount that the operator quotes at 800-678-7274. Loads must be tarped by law, tires are accepted only after being split, quartered or shredded, oil and lead acid batteries are refused, and an appliance that held refrigerant needs a certification letter showing a certified technician removed it. Pine Hill Landfill

Pine Hill Landfill Road, south of Longview near Highway 31 and FM 1252, TX 75662

Self-hauled household and bulky loads from Longview addresses, waste tires that have been split, quartered or shredded, and appliances whose refrigerant has been recovered by a certified technician with the certification letter.

Oil and oil filters and lead acid batteries are not accepted, an unsplit tire is refused, a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit without a certified refrigerant removal letter is refused, and by law every load must be tarped in transit. The sanitation customer discount does not apply to commercial waste.

Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The landfill charges a tipping fee, and Longview residents with sanitation service receive a discount whose current amount is quoted by Republic Services at 800-678-7274, so the amount is confirmed before the load is built.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Tire disposal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Longview.

How much does tire disposal cost?

A non-commercial car or pickup-truck tire is $99 first and $20 additional. A commercial automotive tire up to 120 lb is $125 first and $55 additional. Count each tire separately.

How do I book a set of four tires?

Choose the matching tire type and set the quantity to four. The first tire uses the first-item price and the remaining three use the additional-item price. Review your total before payment.

Do you take tires still mounted on rims?

Text our team a photo before booking so we can confirm the scope and price for your setup.

Can my tire shop take the old tires?

Ask the tire retailer or your local waste authority about their collection options and requirements. If the tires are already at home, Dropcurb offers a separately booked outdoor pickup for the listed tire types.

Can I arrange same-day pickup?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.

Where should I put my items?

Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.

Can Longview pick up tires at the curb?

No. Tires are excluded from the garbage, recycling and bulky item services, and the Compost Site refuses them. The published option is a self-haul trip to the Pine Hill Landfill, and the tires have to be split, quartered or shredded before the gate will accept them.Official guidance

Do Longview residents get a discount at the Pine Hill Landfill?

Yes, residents with sanitation service receive a discount on waste delivered to the Pine Hill Landfill, which Republic Services operates rather than the city, and the current discount amount comes from the operator at 800-678-7274. The discount does not apply to commercial waste, and the load has to be tarped on the road.Official guidance
