Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics do not belong in the blue recycling cart, which takes only plastics numbered one, two and five, metal cans, paper and cardboard, and the Compost Site takes yard waste. A screen long enough to meet the bulky item definition can be scheduled with Sanitation.

City cost & eligibility
Longview publishes no separate e-waste price and the bulky route carries its own per-item decision, so confirm the route and any charge with Sanitation at 903-237-1250 before the screen leaves the house.
When & how
Call Sanitation at 903-237-1250 to ask which route a screen can use and whether it qualifies as a bulky item over four feet long, then book the collection.
Get it ready
Wipe the drive or reset the device, keep the screen whole and never break a tube open, and take the batteries out of a remote or console first because batteries are refused in the collection streams. Never leave a television in the blue cart, where a contaminated load can be tagged and the cart pulled from the property.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Book a bulky collection before anything goes to the curb

Schedule by calling Sanitation at 903-237-1250, sending a CitySend request or filling out the online form, then put the items out no earlier than the day before the collection. Placing items at the curb authorizes the pickup and counts against the four free collections in the rolling twelve month period, and material left after the eight cubic yards are collected has to come back onto the property.

Carts are out before 7:30 a.m. with everything inside them

Trash and recyclables have to fit fully inside the city-provided carts, and the carts need at least four feet of clearance from cars, trees, trailers and mailboxes, with nothing parked in front of them. Carts go out before 7:30 a.m. on the collection day, leaving them out the night before is allowed, and blocked or improperly placed carts are not serviced.

Garbage and recycling services guidelines: material inside the carts, four feet of clearance, the 7:30 a.m. set-out time and the city-provided cart requirement

Recycling is collected the day after trash day

Recycling now runs one day after the scheduled trash day, and a blue-lidded cart put out early on trash day is skipped and serviced the following day. A cart with household trash or other non-recyclable material in it is tagged and can be removed from the property, so keep styrofoam, clothing, wood, yard waste, bags and food out of the blue cart.

Tarp the load and prepare appliances and tires before Pine Hill

By law every load must be tarped on the way to the Pine Hill Landfill. A tire is refused unless it has been split, quartered or shredded, a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit is refused unless the refrigerant was removed by a certified technician whose certification letter comes with the unit, and oil, oil filters and lead acid batteries are not accepted at the site at all.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Taking it somewhere yourself?

A Longview household that hauls its own load has two destinations. The Compost Site at 2020 Swinging Bridge Rd takes yard waste free from sanitation customers with a current water bill and matching driver's license, turns it into compost and mulch, and also takes glass, and it refuses cross ties, rocks, concrete, construction and demolition waste, pallets, sheetrock, ceramic tile, roofing, landscape timbers, lumber, fence posts, metal, appliances and tires. Everything else goes to the Pine Hill Landfill south of Longview near Highway 31 and FM 1252, which is operated by Republic Services rather than the city, is open Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and gives Longview residents with sanitation service a discount that the operator quotes at 800-678-7274. Loads must be tarped by law, tires are accepted only after being split, quartered or shredded, oil and lead acid batteries are refused, and an appliance that held refrigerant needs a certification letter showing a certified technician removed it. Compost Site page: address, phone, Tuesday to Saturday hours, the free residential drop-off with proof of service, the free compost and mulch and the no-accept listPine Hill Landfill page: the Republic Services operator, hours, the sanitation customer discount, the tire shredding rule, the refrigerant certification rule and the tarp requirementSanitation collection administrative regulation: the bulky item definition, the four collections per rolling twelve months, the eight cubic yard limit, the fee item list and the excluded materialWhat bulky items can be collected: the no-charge furniture, lawn equipment and brush list and the fee list for appliances, construction material, carpet, demolition waste and mattresses

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Longview.

How much does TV removal cost in Longview?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Longview?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where does a Longview television go?

Not in the blue recycling cart, which takes only plastics numbered one, two and five, metal cans, paper and cardboard. A screen over four feet long can meet the bulky item definition, so call Sanitation at 903-237-1250 to confirm the route and book a collection.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Longview?

The City of Longview Sanitation Department collects household waste, recycling, yard waste and bulky items for residents who have a City of Longview water bill. Every qualifying residence gets a 95-gallon trash cart and a 95-gallon blue-lidded recycling cart, and Sanitation answers questions and books collections at 903-237-1250.Official guidance

Why was my blue recycling cart tagged?

The city now enforces the recycling rules, because trash in a blue-lidded cart contaminates the load at the processing facility. A cart with household trash or non-recyclable material is tagged and can be removed from the property, only plastics numbered one, two and five, metal cans, paper and cardboard belong in it, and recycling is collected the day after the trash day.Official guidance

Why will Longview not collect my old refrigerator?

Because it still holds refrigerant. The bulky item service excludes anything containing or that once contained refrigerant, so a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit is not collected at the curb, and the Pine Hill Landfill takes one only after a certified technician recovers the refrigerant and the certification letter travels with the unit.Official guidance
