McAllen runs a curbside brush and bulky waste collection every month, with the city divided into four map sections and each section collected during its own full week of the month: North East in the first full week, North West in the second, South West in the third and South East in the fourth.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. The curbside brush and bulky collection is a city residential service and the city publishes no item fee for it. Compostable paper bags are also free to residents, twenty a month from the Recycling Center and five a month from the other listed city facilities.

One week a month for the section the address falls in, with items set out at the assigned location before the Monday of that collection week.
Get it ready
Keep three feet of empty space all around the pile, put the pile at the curbside or in the alleyway rather than in the street, and keep it clear of mailboxes, fire hydrants, water meters, walls and fences. City Ordinance Sec. 90-42 makes it unlawful to place brush so that it blocks a mailbox or covers a water meter, telephone pedestal, gas meter or cable wire. Grass and leaves go in the free compostable paper bags rather than in plastic.
