Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulk items go out with the brush and bulk collection every other week on the regular trash day with no scheduling, inside a 3 cubic yard limit, and anything set at the kerb is treated as bulk.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no fee for the routine brush and bulk week, while excess material beyond 3 cubic yards moves to the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form where fees apply based on the amount and the time required, so confirm the arrangement and any charge with the city before a large cleanout.
When & how
Check the interactive map or the annual pick-up calendar to learn whether the address is on Week A or Week B, then put the items at the kerb next to the garbage and recycling carts on the regular trash day of the assigned brush and bulk week.
Get it ready
Keep the whole set-out inside 3 cubic yards, tie brush and limbs with string or twine in bundles with nothing longer than 4 feet or thicker than 4 inches, split or cut larger limbs down, and stack everything so workers can lift it safely. Put nothing at the kerb that should not be collected, because everything placed there is treated as a bulk item, and keep refrigerant appliances back until they carry a certified tag.
Construction debris and wood are not acceptable recyclables, and the city solid waste page does not describe a separate construction collection, so a project load needs the city to confirm the route against the bulk rules and the excess route.
City cost & eligibility
The city names construction debris and wood among the materials that are not acceptable recycling, publishes no construction collection or rate, and applies fees to excess material through the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form based on the amount and the time required, so confirm with the city before a project load is set out.
When & how
Ask the city first, then use the assigned brush and bulk week inside the 3 cubic yard limit or file the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form for the excess, which carries a fee.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris and wood out of the recycling cart because they are on the non-recyclable list, cut and bundle any wood that is going out with the brush and bulk set-out within the limb limits, and keep refrigerant appliances and anything tagged as excluded out of the pile.
Garbage and recycling go in the carts only, because the city will not collect an extra bag set on top of the cart. Recycling must be dry, loose, un-shredded and empty, with the acceptable list running from aluminium cans and newspaper through PET and HDPE bottles, steel and tin cans, uncoated paperboard, corrugated cardboard, glass food and beverage containers and cartons. Non-recyclables include plastic bags and bagged material, Styrofoam, ceramics, light bulbs, mirrors, coated cardboard, soiled paper, cookware, appliances and electronics, wires, film packaging, yard waste, construction debris, wood, medical supplies, food waste, textiles, small paper fragments, propane tanks and batteries. Recycling and brush or bulk collection alternate every other week on the regular trash day, and the city map or annual calendar shows whether the address is on Week A or Week B.
Everything placed at the kerb is treated as a bulk item, so nothing unwanted should go there, and items have to be stacked in a way that workers can reasonably and safely lift into the vehicle. Brush and limbs are tied with string or twine in bundles, kept under 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter, with larger limbs split or cut down, and the whole set-out is capped at 3 cubic yards. Appliances containing refrigerant are refused unless the unit is tagged certifying that a certified refrigerant technician removed the refrigerant. Scheduling is no longer required, because the brush and bulk collection runs on the assigned alternating week.
Excess material needs a form, extra carts need a fee
A household that accumulates more than the allowed 3 cubic yards of brush or bulk waste has two choices: wait until the next assigned brush or bulk week, or complete the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form for service outside the normal schedule, where fees apply based on the amount and the time required for collection. Cart changes are handled separately: an additional cart request can be delivered within 24 to 72 hours, with an extra garbage cart costing 9.25 per month and an extra recycling cart costing 5.00 per month.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Use the assigned brush and bulk week
A Schertz household with tied brush, limbs and bulk items that will not fit the carts and that come to no more than 3 cubic yards.
Cost & conditions
No charge. City of Schertz residential collection, which publishes no separate charge for the routine brush and bulk week and caps each set-out at 3 cubic yards.
Arrange it
Check the city map or the annual pick-up calendar for the Week A or Week B assignment, then place the prepared material at the kerb next to the garbage and recycling carts on the regular trash day of that week.
3 cubic yards per set-out, limbs under 4 feet and 4 inches and tied in bundles, everything stacked for a safe lift, refrigerant appliances refused without a certified tag, and no materials that should not leave the property because anything at the kerb is treated as a bulk item.
City of Schertz residential solid waste collection
File for an unusual accumulation collection
A household that has accumulated more than the allowed 3 cubic yards of brush or bulk waste and wants it collected before the next assigned week.
Cost & conditions
The city states that the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form covers service outside the normal schedule with fees that apply based on the amount and the time required for collection, but it publishes no rate, so confirm the charge with the city when the form is filed.
Arrange it
Complete the city's Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form through the utility billing form centre, and wait for the city to confirm the collection before adding anything to the pile.
A paid service outside the normal schedule, the fee depends on the volume and the time required, and the material still has to follow the brush and bulk preparation and exclusion rules.
City of Schertz residential solid waste collection
Order an additional cart
A Schertz household that needs more garbage or recycling capacity than the standard carts provide.
Cost & conditions
From $5 per month for an additional recycling cart, with $9.25 per month for an additional garbage cart. City of Schertz residential accounts requesting the cart through the utility billing form centre, with delivery within 24 to 72 hours of the request.
Arrange it
Submit the additional cart request form through the city's utility billing forms and expect delivery within 24 to 72 hours.
A monthly charge per cart, an additional garbage cart costing nearly twice the recycling cart, and the carts still have to hold all garbage and recycling because nothing may be set on top of or beside them.
Schertz collects household material at the kerb through the carts and the alternating brush and bulk week, and the city solid waste page lists no public drop-off or transfer station, so call the city about a load the bulk week will not take. Garbage and recycling go in the carts, with nothing set on top, and recycling has to be dry, loose, un-shredded and empty. Brush and bulk items go to the kerb on the assigned Week A or Week B collection day, tied and bundled, with limbs under 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter, the pile capped at 3 cubic yards and stacked so the crew can lift it safely, and refrigerant appliances refused unless they carry a certified technician's tag. A household above the 3 cubic yard limit either waits for the next assigned week or files the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form, where fees apply based on the amount and the time required. Construction debris and wood are named among the non-recyclables, so a project load has to be confirmed with the city rather than assumed to ride the brush and bulk truck, and additional carts can be requested for delivery within 24 to 72 hours at a monthly charge, which is a useful alternative to leaving extra bags out because they will not be collected. City solid waste collection page with the brush and bulk preparation and limb rules, the end of scheduling, the every other week Week A and Week B calendar, the 3 cubic yard limit, the Unusual Accumulation route with fees, the refrigerant tag requirement, the recycling and non-recycling lists and the additional cart prices

Before you book
A few things worth knowing.
Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Schertz.
How much does bulk junk removal cost in Schertz?+
A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.
Can you pick up bags of junk today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
How does the Schertz brush and bulk pickup work?+
It runs every other week on the regular trash day, alternating with recycling on a Week A and Week B schedule that the city publishes as a map and an annual calendar. Scheduling is no longer required: tied and bundled brush and bulk items simply go to the kerb next to the garbage and recycling carts. Everything placed at the kerb is treated as a bulk item, the set-out is limited to 3 cubic yards, and items have to be stacked so the crew can safely lift them.Official guidance
Will Schertz collect construction debris?+
The city solid waste page does not describe a separate construction collection. Construction debris and wood appear on the list of materials that are not acceptable recycling, and the only published set-out for large material is the brush and bulk week, which runs every other week on the regular trash day with a 3 cubic yard limit. A household with more than the limit either waits for the next assigned week or files the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form, where fees apply based on the amount and the time required, so a project load should be confirmed with the city first.Official guidance
Who collects garbage and recycling in Schertz?+
The City of Schertz runs residential solid waste collection, with garbage on the regular trash day, recycling in the carts on an alternating every other week schedule, and brush and bulk collection riding the same alternating week on the same day. Garbage and recycling must be inside the carts because an extra bag set on top of the cart is not collected, and recycling has to be dry, loose, un-shredded and empty. Households follow the city's interactive map or the annual Week A and Week B calendar to know which week applies to the address.Official guidance
How much brush and bulk waste can a Schertz home set out?+
Three cubic yards, placed at the kerb next to the garbage and recycling carts on the assigned Week A or Week B collection day, with no scheduling needed. Brush and limbs have to be tied with string or twine in bundles, no longer than 4 feet and no thicker than 4 inches, and larger limbs must be split or cut down to limit their weight. Everything at the kerb counts as a bulk item, so nothing unwanted should be set out, and appliances holding refrigerant need a certified tag before they will be collected.Official guidance
What happens if a Schertz pile is too big?+
A household with more than the allowed 3 cubic yards of brush or bulk waste has two options: wait until the next assigned brush or bulk week, or complete the Unusual Accumulation Waste Collection Form for service outside the normal schedule, where fees apply based on the amount and the time required for collection. Construction debris and wood are not recyclable materials, so a project load has to be confirmed with the city rather than assumed to ride the brush and bulk truck.Official guidance
Can a Schertz household get another cart?+
Yes. Additional cart requests can be submitted through the city's utility billing form centre and delivered within 24 to 72 hours, with an extra garbage cart costing 9.25 per month and an extra recycling cart costing 5.00 per month. Extra capacity in a cart matters because garbage and recycling have to be inside the carts: the city states that an extra bag placed on top of the cart will not be collected, and yard waste, construction debris and wood are on the non-recyclable list rather than the recycling cart's list.Official guidance
