Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions, computers, monitors, stereos and other electronics are accepted at the city Recycling Convenience Center, where they belong in the metal recycling bin. The city's curbside bulk list names furniture, mattresses, home appliances, yard debris, large packaging and other large items rather than electronics, so confirm a television on the ReCollect reservation before it goes to the curb.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no per-item rate for electronics at the Recycling Convenience Center and no separate rate for a television on a curbside reservation. Confirm the route and any charge with Public Works at 540-434-5928 or on the ReCollect reservation before the set-out.
When & how
The Recycling Convenience Center takes electronics Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to noon, closed on city holidays. A curbside television has to be on a reservation booked by 12 pm on the business day before the pickup.
Get it ready
Clear personal data from a computer before handing it over, place the item in the metal recycling bin at the center, and keep electronics out of the trash cart and out of a curbside pile until the reservation confirms the item.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A bulk pickup starts with a reservation

Bulk and yard debris are collected on the regular trash day, but only after the address books that day through ReCollect. The reservation closes at 12 pm on the business day before the pickup, and one reserved day covers up to five bulk items and ten yard-debris units. An item that was not part of the reservation is not collected, so book the category and the count before anything moves to the curb.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The two self-haul routes in Harrisonburg sit on opposite sides of the city. The Recycling Convenience Center at 2055 Beery Road is the closer one for household items: it takes furniture, mattresses, box springs, televisions, computers and other electronics, appliances with the Freon removed, scrap metal, yard debris, bagged grass clippings and sorted recycling, and it is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to noon except on city holidays. It does not take construction debris, automotive parts, prescription medication or household hazardous waste. The Rockingham County / Harrisonburg Landfill at 813 Greendale Rd is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, accepts construction and wood debris, yard debris, white goods and Freon appliances, and charges by weight with a separate per-tire charge for tires. It refuses chemicals, cleaners, fuels, railroad ties, cooking oil, fertilizers, medical waste and lead acid batteries, and will not take latex paint unless it is completely dried out. Household hazardous waste has its own collection days instead, and the next published drop-off on the city page is Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 8:00 AM to noon at the landfill. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Harrisonburg.

How much does TV removal cost in Harrisonburg?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Harrisonburg?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do old televisions and computers go in Harrisonburg?

The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to noon except on city holidays. The curbside bulk list does not name electronics, so confirm a television on your ReCollect reservation before it goes out.Official guidance

What can I take to the Recycling Convenience Center?

Furniture, mattresses and box springs, televisions, computers and other electronics, scrap metal such as an appliance with the Freon removed, a washer, a dryer, a bed frame, a lawnmower or a barbecue grill, yard debris, bagged grass clippings and sorted recycling.
