No charge. Computers, monitors and televisions are recycled free of charge at E-Cycle Washington collection sites, which the county describes as a free programme for certain broken, obsolete or worn out electronics. The locator finds the nearest site by address, city or zip code.
When & how
Find the nearest E-Cycle Washington collection site through the locator and take the item there during its own hours. Nothing about electronics changes the weekly cart schedule, because these items do not belong in the cart or in a drop box.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data off a computer, phone or drive before handover, and keep cables and remotes with the device. Keep electronics out of the cart, off the extra waste pile and out of the recycling drop boxes, which take paper, aluminium and steel cans and cardboard only.
Household chemicals cannot go in the trash. They go to the Franklin County collection facility beside the transfer station, free for county residents with a limit of ten gallons per household, open Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by appointment, and closed to explosives, asbestos and commercial waste. Televisions, monitors and computers go to a free E-Cycle Washington collection site instead, and neither belongs in the cart or in a recycling drop box.
