Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions and computers

Special rules apply

Huntington's collection pages do not name electronics among the accepted bulky items or among the prohibited items, so the route has to be confirmed with Public Works.

City cost & eligibility
The City's waste pages list neither electronics nor electronic waste. Call Public Works at 304.696.5540 option 1 to confirm whether a television or computer can be included in a bulky or special pickup and what, if anything, it costs.
When & how
Confirm with Public Works before setting electronics out, because the City's accepted and prohibited lists do not cover them either way.
Get it ready
Keep electronics off the curb until Public Works confirms the pickup, and do not place them with bagged household garbage.

City of Huntington Department of Public Works

Assessed special pickup for larger loads

Households with a load larger than an eight-foot truck bed, or more than the four bags of yard waste allowed with weekly garbage.

Cost & conditions
The City assesses the size of the order and contacts the resident with the price of the pickup before collecting it.
Arrange it
Request a special collection pickup through Public Works at 304.696.5540 option 1 or the Huntington WV 311 app, and wait for the City's assessment before expecting collection.

The same prohibited items apply, and the City sets the price after assessing the load, so the cost is not known when the request is filed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Huntington does not publish a city drop-off site, so self hauling starts with confirming a route. Items the City will not collect, including tires, car batteries, motor oil and petroleum products, and appliances that still contain refrigerant, are regulated by the DEP and EPA, and the City publishes 304.926.0495 for guidance on them. Anything the City's pages do not list, including electronics and larger scrap metal, should be confirmed with Public Works at 304.696.5540 option 1 before it goes to the curb.
