When & how
Set furniture out by 6 a.m. on the neighborhood bulk trash date shown on the city calendar, or take it to a district dumpster Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Remove cushions and any loose parts, and keep the piece accessible from the street. Bag household garbage separately and leave it in the city cart, because loose bags on the ground are not collected.
Bulk trash runs separately from your weekly garbage day and follows the dated neighborhood calendar the city publishes. Put the pile out by 6 a.m. on your neighborhood's date, keep it reachable and clear of the roadway, and check the daily updates if you want to see when your area has been serviced.
Household garbage must be bagged inside the city-issued 96-gallon cart and placed in front of the home. Bags or loose material left on the ground beside the cart, on top of the cart, or in an alley are not collected, and clutter that will not fit the cart belongs in the bulk trash pile or at a district dumpster.

Hazardous items and commercial construction materials are not permitted at any of the four locations.
Birmingham residents have three municipal ways to move a large load: the neighborhood bulk trash route, the four district dumpsters, and the public unloading area at the Eastern Area Landfill. Household hazardous waste, appliances and electronics run through Jefferson County event days instead, with year-round electronics businesses listed for the rest of the year. Can you pick up my couch today?+
Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the couch outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We send pickup updates and photos when it is done; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.
How do I book a sectional for removal?+
Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. The matching catalog choice covers one complete sectional of that configuration. Text a photo before booking if you are unsure.
Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.
Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?+
You do not need to be home when your booked sofa is outside and accessible. Add photos and pickup-location notes to your order so the right pieces are easy to identify. We send updates and completion photos. Confirm any building access restrictions with us before booking.
Can a couch go out with bulk trash?+
