One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

No Decatur page names televisions or electronics, and the curbside recycling cart takes paper, cardboard, cans and plastics one and two only, so a screen is confirmed with Environmental Services. The landfill is the self-haul site, and its published acceptance clause covers non-hazardous solid waste while refusing liquids and hazardous material.

City cost & eligibility
Nothing in the city's published material prices a television or electronic device. The loader truck runs on the garbage account at no separate published charge and the landfill charges by weight with a minimum, so Environmental Services confirms the route and cost at (256) 341-4740.
When & how
Call Environmental Services first, then either set the screen out for the loader truck or take it to the Morgan County Regional Landfill in Trinity during its gate hours, Monday to Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Get it ready
Wipe the drive or reset the device and keep the screen whole, because a broken tube is a handling hazard on any load. Never put a screen in the recycling cart, which takes only paper, cardboard, cans and plastics numbered one and two, and never carry it to the household chemical drop-off, which is for chemicals, oil, paint and batteries.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Put bulky material where the carts are serviced, and keep it neat

Place large items neatly away from fences, mailboxes, buildings and utility poles, and behind the curb when the address has no alley pickup, without blocking an alleyway. Limbs should be cut under twelve feet long and under twelve inches in diameter, and the loader truck route does not serve both the street and the alley at one address.

Solid Waste page: residential carts, the loader truck service for bulky items and yard debris, the homeowner debris lists, contractor exclusions and the 2026 rate table

Carts are out by 6:00 A.M. with the lids closed

Have the carts out by 6:00 A.M. on the collection day with the directional arrows pointing to the street or alley, behind the curb or on the shoulder rather than in the gutter or the street, and roll them back to a safe place near the house by 7:00 P.M. Bag household garbage, keep lids closed with nothing protruding, and keep carts away from buildings, fences, mailboxes and utility poles.

Liquids, ashes and building material stay out of the carts

Never place paints, solvents, flammable or other liquids, ashes, dead animals, oils or medical waste in a cart, and never fill a cart with building materials such as lumber, dirt, concrete or rocks. Those streams have their own route: the monthly household chemical collection takes paint, oil, cleaners, fuels, pool chemicals, pesticides and batteries, and the landfill refuses liquid and hazardous waste outright.

A holiday moves collection back a day, and Friday pickups move to Monday

When a holiday falls on a scheduled garbage day, the collection is generally rescheduled for the following day, except for Friday pickups which move to the following Monday. The 2026 calendar marks Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day with no changes and lists the shifted routes for New Year's Day, Juneteenth, the observed July 4th holiday, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cover the load and bring a card, not a check, to the landfill

Every vehicle entering the Morgan County Regional Landfill has to be properly covered and secured, tailgates closed and tarp used as needed. Payment at the gate is cash, Visa, Discover or MasterCard, and checks are no longer accepted, with a minimum charge on small loads and a separate rate for tires and for approved asbestos.

Self-haul to the Morgan County Regional Landfill

A household that would rather drive its own load than wait for the loader truck, or that has construction and demolition material, limbs or stumps to move.

Cost & conditions
From $30 per ton for garbage, trash, wood materials, construction and demolition, industrial waste and animals, with a minimum charge based on the first 740 pounds and higher published rates for state-approved asbestos and for tractor, trailer and heavy equipment tires. Cash, Visa, Discover or MasterCard at the gate, with checks no longer accepted; every load must be covered and secured, and recycling loads are charged separately at no charge under 500 pounds and by the ton at 500 pounds and over.
Arrange it
Cover and secure the load, drive to 500 Landfill Drive in Trinity, and arrive during gate hours, Monday to Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. or Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., allowing for a hand-unloading entry at least 30 minutes before closing.

Liquid waste and hazardous or toxic waste, including oil, paint, insecticides and batteries, are refused, asbestos needs prior approval from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, and the mulch yard cannot load a pickup truck.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

A Decatur household that hauls its own load drives to the Morgan County Regional Landfill at 500 Landfill Drive in Trinity, open Monday to Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., with hand-unloaders required through the gate 30 minutes before closing. The gate charges by the ton for garbage, trash, wood materials, construction and demolition, industrial waste and animals, with a minimum based on the first 740 pounds and separate rates for heavy equipment tires, passenger car and truck tires, and state-approved asbestos, and payment is by cash, Visa, Discover or MasterCard because checks are no longer accepted. Loads must be covered and secured, and the landfill refuses liquid waste and hazardous or toxic waste such as oil, paint, insecticides and batteries. The same site runs a recycling facility where loads under 500 pounds are free and larger loads are charged by the ton, and a mulch yard that gives compost away free to residents who load it themselves, while the city's monthly household chemical collection on the second Saturday at 1802 Central Parkway takes the paint, oil, cleaners, fuels and batteries the landfill will not bury. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Decatur.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Decatur?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Decatur?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where does a Decatur television go?

Not in the recycling cart, which takes only paper, cardboard, cans and plastics numbered one and two. Call Environmental Services at (256) 341-4740 to ask whether the loader truck will take the screen, or haul it to the Morgan County Regional Landfill, which accepts non-hazardous solid waste and refuses liquids and hazardous material.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Decatur?

The City of Decatur Solid Waste Department, part of Environmental Services, collects household garbage once a week in City-issued carts, up to two 95-gallon carts for an address, and runs the loader truck that takes bulky material, limbs and yard debris. The account is billed monthly on the Decatur Utilities bill, extra carts carry an extra monthly charge, and questions go to (256) 341-4740.Official guidance

Why is my bulky pile still at the curb?

Because the loader truck is a separate, unscheduled route rather than an appointment: it can reach an address on any weekday and may take about two weeks, and it does not run at the same time as the garbage carts. A pile left somewhere other than where the carts are serviced, or a load the city refuses, such as contractor debris, will keep waiting until the department is called.Official guidance

Where can a Decatur household take paint, oil and batteries?

To the household chemical collection held on the second Saturday of every month from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at 1802 Central Parkway. It takes used motor oil, paint, household cleaners, gasoline, kerosene, filled aerosol cans, pool chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and household and vehicle batteries, with a limit of ten one-gallon buckets of paint and 100 pounds of chemicals per household each month.Official guidance

What goes in a Decatur recycling cart?

Newspapers and inserts, magazines, paperbacks, brown paper bags, directories, letters, envelopes, fliers, brochures, bulk mail, computer and school paper, flattened paperboard and corrugated cardboard, aluminum and steel cans including empty aerosols, and plastics numbered one and two. The program does not take glass, hardback books, plastic bags, waxed paper, motor oil or pesticide containers, and the cart fee rides on the monthly utility bill.Official guidance
