When & how
Ask the hauler before the service day, then put the mattress at the kerb with the rest of the weekly bulky allowance where it is accepted.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress out of the garbage cart, keep it inside the two yards allowed for the week, and set it at the kerb by 7 a.m. on the service day.
All services must be at the kerbside no later than 7 a.m. on the service day. Residential waste has to be bagged and inside the 96-gallon cart with the lid closed, and bulky material goes out beside the carts rather than in them.

Arrange it

Two yards per home or unit, weekly, and the hauler is not required to take construction debris, carpet, large dead animals, hazardous waste or stable matter beyond the container allowances. An unnamed item such as a mattress, a screen or an exercise machine needs confirmation first.
Cabot has no city-run drop-off yard in the documents it publishes.
