Furniture is the first item named in the city's bulky waste program, and the program limits a household to 2 couches per calendar year within the 8 cubic yard allowance for each of its two annual pickups.

Two bulky waste pickups per calendar year are free for up to 8 cubic yards each, with 2 couches per calendar year allowed inside that allowance, and anything beyond the allowance or over 16 cubic yards in one set-out goes to the paid bulky waste service.
When & how
Call Public Works at 479-750-8135 the week before, set the furniture at the curb over the following weekend, and the crew collects it between Monday and Friday of the next week.
Get it ready
Place the furniture at the pickup address, no further than 6 feet from the curb, away from fences, mailboxes, meters, trees and low power lines, with the space in front kept clear of parked vehicles. Keep bagged material, recyclables, cardboard, Styrofoam, fluorescent bulbs and any screen out of the pile.
The bulky waste program starts with a phone call to Public Works at 479-750-8135 during the week before the pickup. The caller is told to wait until the upcoming weekend to put the items at the curb, and the bulky waste crew then comes between Monday and Friday of the following week, because the department cannot schedule a specific day.
Keep the pile close to the curb and clear of obstructions
The program asks residents to place items no further than 6 feet from the curb and away from fences, mailboxes and electric, water or gas meters, and not under trees or low power lines. No vehicle should be parked in front of the pile, every item has to sit at the address that requested the pickup, and the whole set-out stays within the household's allowance.
Two pickups a year, 8 cubic yards each, with item caps inside them
A household can schedule two free bulky waste pickups each calendar year for a combined 8 cubic yards each, or combine the two into a single pickup of up to 16 cubic yards. Inside that allowance the program caps mattresses or box springs at 4 and couches at 2 per calendar year, allows 4 tires with the rims separated, takes tree cuttings no longer than 5 feet, and limits construction material to 2 cubic yards. Anything beyond the allowance goes to the paid service.
Curbside carts are weekly and take only garbage and recyclables
Trash and recycling are collected weekly on the same day for residences inside the city limits, and the cart belongs at the curb by 6 a.m. The service runs through CARDS Recycling, with Springdale Water Utilities billing it on the water account, and questions about the account go to CARDS at 479-435-9061. The cart is for household garbage and recyclables only, so furniture, appliances, screens and construction material have to use the bulky waste program or the drop-off sites.

A household with more than 16 cubic yards of bulky waste that has used up the free allowance or is clearing a full house.
Cost & conditions
From $150 for minimum charge for eight cubic yards of the paid bulky waste service, priced per cubic yard above the free household allowance. Households with more than 16 cubic yards of bulky waste. A signed approval form from the property owner, occupant, tenant or lessee is required for removal of the excess material.

Call Public Works at 479-750-8135 to inquire about the paid service, submit the signed approval form, and put the load at the curb for the scheduled collection week.
The paid service is priced by volume with a minimum charge, it is only for households past the 16 cubic yard free allowance, and the same refused items that stop a free pickup also stop this one.

Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.
Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?+
