Electronics are refused at the landfill as universal waste and cannot go in the recycling bin. They go through the City of Tucson household hazardous waste program at the Los Reales campus or at a monthly community collection event, and the city also lists local recyclers as alternatives.
City cost & eligibility
The two program pages publish different fees for households outside the City of Tucson. The City of Tucson household hazardous waste page charges 15 dollars per visit for Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and unincorporated Pima County, and the Pima County waste page publishes a 10 dollar drop-off fee for residents living outside the City of Tucson limits, while City of Tucson residents drop free. Unincorporated Pima County households, which includes Tanque Verde, still need a driver's license or a current utility bill as proof of residency, so confirm the exact fee before travelling.
When & how
Drop off at the Los Reales campus on Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the site is closed on the second Saturday of every month except during the summer. Community collection events also run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with 2026 dates on September 12, October 10, November 14 and December 12.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers and printers out of the recycling bin and out of the landfill load, wipe personal data before handover, and bring the proof of residency that the program asks for. Accepted items include computers and laptops, monitors, printers and scanners, televisions, phones and tablets, keyboards, cables, chargers and small media players.
Keep universal waste, liquids and batteries out of the load
The landfill refuses regulated hazardous waste, universal waste, bulk liquids, lead acid batteries, waste oil, explosives, ammunition, intact vehicles and anything banned by federal, state or city rules. Electronics fall under that refusal, which is why a television or computer goes to the household hazardous waste program instead of the landfill gate.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Arrange it

The drop-off closes on the second Saturday of every month except in the summer months, the community events pause during the summer, and the fee is charged per visit rather than per item.

Cost & conditions
The city lists the organizations without publishing their rates. One of them, Keeper of the Grumper, states that many items including computers, televisions, phones and cables are accepted free of charge, and the others set their own terms, so confirm with the one you choose.

These are independent organizations rather than the county or city program, so nothing about the household hazardous waste fee, the drop-off window or the accepted device list carries over to them.
