A new use for the same space, once the old machine is outside and gone.

Room for what comes next

Your space can have a new purpose.

A home office. Room for a guest. A little more floor to enjoy. When an old machine is in the way, a clear pickup plan makes the next step easier.

The room is changing.

Book the equipment you are ready to let go of, whether it is one exercise bike or several machines. See the total before making the plan.

A replacement is coming.

Check whether your retailer includes removal. If the old treadmill is still your responsibility, give it a pickup day of its own.

It is not making the move.

Settle the price online, arrange to have it outside, and follow the pickup through text updates and completion photos. One less thing to coordinate before the keys change hands.

Match the machine

The right choice covers the right equipment.

Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.

Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?

Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.

An exercise bike, elliptical or rower

Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

Weights, racks and benches

Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Plan the move outside before pickup day.

A machine can be too heavy or awkward for a solo move. Arrange suitable help for indoor carrying, stairs or any dismantling needed to reach the outdoor pickup spot.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

A treadmill, weight bench or similar machine counts as bulky material only while it is too large for the garbage cart, and the county does not name exercise equipment in its published item lists.

City cost & eligibility
The county publishes no exercise-equipment rule of its own. Confirm the exact machine when scheduling the bulky appointment, and ask whether it is collected as bulky household material or routed to the free small power tool and clean metal drop-off instead.
When & how
Schedule a bulky appointment and describe the machine, or ask customer service at 916-875-5555 whether the item belongs with small power tools and clean metals at Kiefer Landfill or the North Area Recovery Station.
Get it ready
Remove fluids and removable batteries, and separate a mostly metal machine from a padded or electronic unit before you transport or set it out.

Bulky material needs an appointment first

Nothing bulky is collected on the ordinary cart schedule. Call 916-875-5555 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on a weekday, use the online request form or the SacGreenTeam app, wait for the appointment, and set the pile out by 6 a.m. no more than 24 hours before that day.

Six feet from objects and 14.5 feet of overhead clearance

Keep the pile in front of the property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb or pavement edge on a flat hard surface, six feet from cars, mailboxes, fences, poles and basketball hoops, and out from under tree limbs, wires and low awnings. Never block a sidewalk, traffic lane or gutter.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Exercise equipment removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Arden-Arcade.

How much does exercise equipment removal cost in Arden-Arcade?

A household treadmill is $159 as the first item and $85 additional. An elliptical is $159 first and $85 additional; an exercise bike is $119 first and $40 additional. Choose all your items to see the combined price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included, with any applicable sales tax shown before payment.

Can you pick up a treadmill or exercise bike today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the equipment outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; we book a day rather than an exact appointment time.

Will you dismantle my treadmill or carry it out of the basement?

Dropcurb pickup starts outside. Arrange indoor carrying, stairs and any dismantling needed to get your equipment out before pickup. Check the moving instructions for your exact model and arrange suitable help. We load and haul away the equipment from an accessible outdoor spot.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?

Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.

How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?

Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.

Will the county take a treadmill at the curb?

The county accepts bulky household material too large for the garbage cart but does not list exercise equipment by name. Confirm the machine with customer service before the appointment so it is collected as bulky material rather than refused at the curb.Official guidance
