Additional carts, overflow cart service and return trips on a non-regular service day carry separate fees, and the county has proposed new rates for January 1, 2027.

Arden-Arcade is an unincorporated community, so its residential collection program is the county's curbside service rather than a city program. Every household on that service gets one bulky waste appointment for five cubic yards of acceptable material every 12 months, with the clock starting on the day the appointment is used instead of on January 1. Furniture, mattresses, appliances, televisions and electronics all ride in that appointment, and the two county facilities take the same categories directly, including the household hazardous waste that never belongs in a cart or a bulky pile.

Place the pile in front of the property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb or pavement edge on a flat hard surface, six feet from cars, mailboxes, fences, poles and other objects, with 14.5 feet of overhead clearance, and keep sidewalks, traffic lanes and gutters clear. Keep pipes, lumber and tree or shrub trimmings under four inches wide and five feet long, keep treated wood out of clean wood, empty appliances of trash and tape or tie large appliance doors shut, and leave business waste, concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, tree stumps, glass panes and mirrors, hot ashes, liquids, hazardous waste and anything that already fits a garbage, organics or recycling cart out of the pile.

Group smaller devices in a cardboard box, keep televisions and monitors separate from the rest of the pile, erase personal data before drop-off, and remove fluids and removable batteries so the batteries and fluids can go to a household hazardous waste center.
