Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, computer monitors, printers, copiers, phones, laptops, drives, cables, stereos and consoles are accepted for residents, both in a bulky appointment and free at the two county facilities.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Residents pay no fee for electronic waste at Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station, where only residential copiers are accepted free, and electronics ride in the annual bulky appointment at no separate charge. Business loads follow the commercial hazardous waste program instead.
When & how
Tell the county about e-waste when you schedule a bulky appointment, or drop it off during facility hours in the designated recycling area, and take anything with a built-in battery to an e-waste program rather than to a landfill area.
Get it ready
Group smaller devices in a cardboard box, keep televisions and monitors separate from the rest of the pile, erase personal data before drop-off, and remove fluids and removable batteries so the batteries and fluids can go to a household hazardous waste center. Electronics never belong in the garbage, organics or recycling cart.

Six feet from objects and 14.5 feet of overhead clearance

Keep the pile in front of the property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb or pavement edge on a flat hard surface, six feet from cars, mailboxes, fences, poles and basketball hoops, and out from under tree limbs, wires and low awnings. Never block a sidewalk, traffic lane or gutter.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Arden-Arcade.

How much does TV removal cost in Arden-Arcade?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Arden-Arcade?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can I put a television or monitor in the garbage cart?

No. The county lists e-waste as unacceptable in the garbage cart and takes televisions, monitors, computers and the other listed devices through a bulky appointment or the free residential drop-off at Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station.Official guidance

What happens to electronics with built-in batteries?

The county asks that items with built-in batteries go only to an electronic waste program, and that removable batteries and fluids be taken out first and dropped at a household hazardous waste facility.Official guidance

Does Sacramento County charge for an Arden-Arcade bulky pickup?

One bulky appointment for up to five cubic yards is included with residential cart service every 12 months, with the period running from the day the appointment is used. Extra appointments and anything above five cubic yards are charged at current rates up to the 15 cubic yard maximum, and the county separately charges facility fees for loads a household drives to Kiefer Landfill or the North Area Recovery Station.Official guidance

What can I drop off myself instead of waiting for an appointment?

Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station take household waste from the public without a residency requirement, with free residential drop-off for small corded items, small power tools, up to two large appliances a day, electronics, four passenger tires a day, mattresses and clean metals. Green waste and clean wood go to their own area, clean inerts are free only at Kiefer Landfill, and every load has to be covered or secured before it reaches the scale house.Official guidance
