Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions and household electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste such as televisions, computer monitors and mobile phones is accepted with the bulky appointment when the smaller devices are boxed together.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the one bulky waste appointment every twelve months for five cubic yards of acceptable items, with electronic waste placed to one side of the pile; extra volume and extra appointments are charged at current rates.
When & how
Say when booking that you have electronic waste, then put it to one side of the bulky pile so the crew can collect it separately.
Get it ready
Box smaller devices together, keep the screens whole, and remember that products with embedded or built-in batteries are not accepted at the hazardous waste drop-off and have to go to an electronic waste programme such as Kiefer Landfill or the North Area Recovery Station. Remove loose batteries and tape their terminals before disposal.

Set appliances, electronics, tubes, trimmings and tires to one side

Appliances, electronic waste, fluorescent tubes, lumber and tree trimmings and up to four tires go to one side of the bulky material and may be collected by a different truck, so say when booking that you have them. Tubes are limited to four feet with no ballasts, trimmings to four inches wide and five feet long with no treated wood, and tires to four with rims allowed.

Keep hazardous waste and cart material out of the pile

Batteries, chemicals, oil, paint, propane tanks and fluorescent ballasts are refused on the bulky route and go to a household hazardous waste drop-off instead, where the county takes up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per month at no fee. Anything that belongs in the garbage, organics or recycling cart stays out of the pile, along with liquids, glass panes, hot ashes and business waste.

Book the yearly bulky waste appointment

Unincorporated-area addresses with furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronic waste, trimmings, up to four tires or other acceptable bulky material inside five cubic yards.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Extra volume costs more, fifteen cubic yards is the maximum for one pickup, and further appointments are charged.
Arrange it
Book the appointment with the county at 916-875-5555 or through the county app, declare any appliances, electronic waste, tubes, trimmings or tires, then put the pile out for the scheduled day.

Business waste, concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, stumps, heavy objects, glass panes and mirrors, hot ashes, hazardous waste, liquids, cart material and treated wood are refused. Multifamily apartment complexes and mobile home parks are served by commercial franchised haulers rather than this curbside programme.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Carmichael's bulky route is the county's yearly appointment: one pickup every twelve months for five cubic yards of acceptable material, with furniture, mattresses and cut-down spas named, and with appliances, electronic waste, fluorescent tubes, trimmings and up to four tires set to one side and declared when booking. Everything the appointment refuses has a county facility behind it: the North Area Recovery Station at 4450 Roseville Road and Kiefer Landfill at 12701 Kiefer Blvd. both take household waste, some recyclables, hard-to-handle items and construction debris, they charge gate fees on schedules published separately, they ask that loads be covered and secured because that is the law, and they require fluids and removable batteries to come out first. Hazardous material goes to the drop-off facility on the Roseville Road site, which takes up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month at no fee, while products with built-in batteries have to go to an electronic waste programme instead. Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., arriving at least 15 minutes before closing. The on-site ABOP and special waste facility keeps different hours.

Gate fees are published on a separate county fee schedule that was not retained, so confirm the rate for the load before hauling.
