Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste is expressly refused in the bulky waste program, so a television, monitor, computer or printer goes through the city household hazardous waste route or to a county free drop off instead.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The residential rate table states the residential collection rate includes household hazardous waste collection, and the Door 2 Door pickup is open to Folsom single-family and multi-family residential customers. Sacramento County also takes electronic waste from residents at no charge under the free residential drop off program. The city programs are for Folsom residents only.
When & how
Door 2 Door household hazardous waste pickups run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and are booked online or at 916-461-6730. A limited drop off appointment is also available by calling the same number, and the county sites take electronic waste during their opening hours.
Get it ready
Do not put a television, monitor, computer or printer on a bulky pile, because electronic waste is on the refused list. Leave the item at the bottom of the driveway for a Door 2 Door pickup rather than next to the house, on the sidewalk, in the parkway or in the street, and wipe personal data from a computer or drive before it leaves.

Free resident drop off at a county site

A household with a mattress, up to two large appliances, electronic waste, up to four passenger tires or clean metal.

No charge. The Sacramento County free residential drop off program takes mattresses and box springs, up to two large appliances a day, electronic waste from residents, up to four passenger vehicle or light truck tires with rims, clean metals eight feet or shorter, and clean inerts at Kiefer Landfill. The load has to contain free items only.
Arrange it
Drive the load to Kiefer Landfill at 12701 Kiefer Blvd. in Sloughhouse or the North Area Recovery Station at 4450 Roseville Road in North Highlands during opening hours, arriving at least 15 minutes before closing, with the load covered or secured.

A load that includes any other material is weighed and charged, a third appliance in a day is charged separately, and household hazardous waste is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month without charge.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Folsom has no city landfill or transfer station, so a resident who hauls material drives to a Sacramento County site. Kiefer Landfill at 12701 Kiefer Blvd. in Sloughhouse is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the North Area Recovery Station at 4450 Roseville Road in North Highlands is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A car load at Kiefer starts at the published car fee, a pickup truck is charged more, and anything on a scale is billed by weight with a minimum charge, so a mixed load is usually the expensive way to go. Mattresses and box springs, up to two large appliances a day, electronic waste from residents, up to four passenger tires with rims, clean metals eight feet or shorter and clean inerts are free when the load contains only those items. Every load has to be covered or secured, fluids and removable batteries come out before the trip, and material with a built-in battery goes to an electronic waste program instead. Household hazardous waste has its own on site facility and its own hours, and residents may bring up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month at no charge. County landfill in Sloughhouse

Kiefer Landfill

12701 Kiefer Blvd., Sloughhouse, CA 95683

Household waste, recyclables and hard to handle material from the public, businesses and private haulers. Free to residents when the load contains only free items: mattresses and box springs, up to two large appliances a day, electronic waste including televisions, monitors, computers, printers and stereos, up to four passenger vehicle or light truck tires with rims, clean metals eight feet or shorter, and clean inerts such as brick, concrete without rebar up to 36 inches, asphalt, tile, rocks and stucco.

Customers do not have to be Sacramento County residents, but every load has to be covered or secured. Fluids and removable batteries come out first, and anything with a built-in battery goes to an electronic waste program only. Household hazardous waste is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds a month, treated wood is taken at Kiefer only, green waste and clean wood have to be separated and unbagged, and the third large appliance in a day is charged along with passenger tires from the fifth on. Arrive at least 15 minutes before closing, and expect the facility to close early if the daily vehicle limit is reached.

Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Phone 916-875-5555.

From $10 for a car, station wagon or small SUV load at the scale house. Effective January 1, 2026, small vans and large SUVs are $20.00, pickup trucks $35.00 and large vans $45.00, with $25.00 added for an uncovered or unsecured load. Weighed loads start at a $45.00 minimum and run $61.35 per ton for normal refuse, $115.65 per ton for green waste and clean wood, $144.90 per ton for hard to handle bulky material and $28.45 per ton for mixed inerts. Cash, credit cards and checks are accepted.

County transfer station in North Highlands

North Area Recovery Station

4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, CA 95660

Household waste, some recyclable material and some hard to handle material from the public, businesses and private haulers, with a household hazardous waste facility on site that keeps different hours. The county free residential drop off list applies here as well, apart from the clean inerts that only Kiefer takes.

Loads have to be covered or secured and the tarp stays on until the tipping area to prevent littering. Green waste and clean wood have to be separated from other material and dropped in the green waste area, unbagged and without treated, painted or stained wood, because only Kiefer accepts treated wood. Material with a built-in battery goes to an electronic waste program, and fluids and removable batteries come out before the load arrives.

Monday to Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Phone 916-875-5555.

The North Area Recovery Station publishes its own fee schedule and takes cash, credit cards or checks at the scale house, so confirm the current charge for the load before hauling. A load that contains only free items is free to residents.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Folsom.

How much does TV removal cost in Folsom?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Folsom?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go out with bulky waste?

No. Electronic waste including televisions, computers, monitors, printers and solar panels is on the refused list for the bulky waste program. A television goes through the household hazardous waste pickup, a drop off appointment, or a county free drop off instead.Official guidance

How do I get rid of electronics in Folsom?

Book a Door 2 Door household hazardous waste pickup, which runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and accepts electronics, or call 916-461-6730 for one of the limited drop off appointments. Sacramento County also takes electronics from residents at no charge at Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station.Official guidance

Who handles waste and recycling in Folsom?

The City of Folsom runs its own Waste and Recycling Division rather than franchising to a private hauler. Customer service is at 50 Natoma Street, 916-461-6730, solidwaste@folsom.ca.us, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and billing and start or stop service is 916-461-6101.Official guidance

What does the residential rate cover?

The city's rate table states that the residential collection rates include the garbage, recycling and organics cans along with household hazardous waste collection and bulky waste service, and it lists a separate SB 1383 charge for all residential accounts. The rate depends on the garbage can size, with low-income and mobile home community rates set lower, and billing at 916-461-6101 confirms the total on the account.Official guidance

Do apartments and businesses get the same bulky service?

The bulky waste appointment allowance is written for single-family residential customers, and the city tells apartment residents and business locations to call the office at 916-461-6730 for their options. Household hazardous waste pickups are open to multi-family residential customers as well as single-family, and apartment communities have green organics bins near the garbage dumpsters.Official guidance

How does the household hazardous waste pickup work?

Book a Door 2 Door pickup online or at 916-461-6730 for a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, and leave the material at the bottom of the driveway rather than next to the house, on the sidewalk, in the parkway or in the street. Per pickup limits are five gallons of antifreeze, five gallons of used motor oil, ten one-gallon cans and two five-gallon pails of paint, with other household hazardous waste not over five gallons or 50 pounds plus 125 pounds of universal waste.Official guidance

Where does cardboard go now?

Cardboard is no longer accepted in the bulky waste program. Flatten clean cardboard and take it to one of the community recycling bins, which the city lists at the Andy Morin Sports Complex with 24 hour access and at Folsom City Hall, Folsom Middle School and the Folsom Historic District. Only recyclable material goes in those bins and everything else is prohibited.Official guidance

Will Folsom take tires with bulky waste?

Yes, up to five tires per bulky waste appointment, as long as each one is 40 inches in diameter or smaller. A cement-filled tire is refused, and Sacramento County also takes up to four passenger vehicle or light truck tires with rims per day from residents at no charge.Official guidance
