Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

E-waste is a special set-out item for the bulky pickup, so the load has to be flagged when the appointment is booked and smaller devices go together in a cardboard box. Televisions, monitors, computers, phones, printers and the rest of the county's e-waste list are also free to drop at either county facility for residents, and none of it may go in a cart.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free on the included annual bulky waste appointment when the e-waste is flagged at booking, and free on a residents-only basis at the North Area Recovery Station and Kiefer Landfill; a second appointment inside the 12 months is charged at current rates, and a mixed load at the gate is charged as a household load.
When & how
Flag the e-waste when you book at 916-875-5555, or take it to either facility during its open hours.
Get it ready
Erase the data on a phone, computer or drive before handover, box the smaller devices so they stay together, and take anything with a built-in battery to the e-waste drop-off rather than a cart, because e-waste is refused in both the garbage and recycling carts.

Carts go out by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the house

Carts are collected on the regular day including holidays, and they go to the curb by 6 a.m. with the handle facing the residence and the lid closed. Leave three feet between carts, six feet from cars, mailboxes and basketball hoops, and 14.5 feet of overhead clearance from limbs, wires and awnings, keep items out of and off the top of the cart, and bring the carts back onto the property within 24 hours of service under county code 6.20.400.C.

The bulky pile has its own placement rules

A bulky waste pile goes out by 6 a.m. and no more than 24 hours before the appointment, in front of the property line on the same side of the street, one foot from the curb or pavement edge on a flat hard surface. Keep it clear of sidewalks, traffic and gutters, six feet from fences, mailboxes, cars and hoops, and out from under utility lines and tree limbs. Appliances, electronics, tires and fluorescent tubes are placed to one side of the pile, and only the scheduled items are collected.

What never goes in a county cart

The garbage cart refuses organics, recyclables, liquids, e-waste, heavy items such as rocks, dirt, bricks and sod, hot ashes, coals and fireworks, hazardous waste and an animal over 15 pounds. Treated wood, glass panes and mirrors, concrete and tree stumps are refused with the bulky pickup too. Electronics, appliances, mattresses and metal go to the free residential drop-off at the station or the landfill, and paint, chemicals, oil, batteries and propane go to the hazardous waste facility.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Antelope.

How much does TV removal cost in Antelope?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Antelope?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Antelope?

To one of the county's two e-waste routes: the bulky waste appointment, where the electronics have to be flagged at booking and set to one side, or the free residents-only drop-off at the North Area Recovery Station or Kiefer Landfill. E-waste is never accepted in the garbage or recycling cart.Official guidance

Who runs the collection in Antelope?

Sacramento County's Department of Waste Management and Recycling runs the residential carts, the bulky waste appointments and the two drop-off facilities for residents in the unincorporated areas of the county. Multifamily apartment complexes, condos, mobile home parks and multiplexes are served by commercial franchised haulers instead, so a household in one of those buildings should ask the property manager. Customer service is 916-875-5555, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Official guidance

What can go in the county garbage cart?

Household garbage, plastic bags and film plastics, coated paper and cartons, chip bags and wrappers, Styrofoam, compostable plastic, hoses, cords, clothes hangers, clothing, shoes, blankets, pet waste and diapers. The cart refuses organics, recyclables, liquids, e-waste, heavy items such as rocks, dirt, bricks and sod, hot ashes, coals and fireworks, hazardous waste and an animal over 15 pounds.Official guidance

What can I drop off for free at the county facilities?

When the load contains only free items, both the North Area Recovery Station and Kiefer Landfill take small corded items, small power tools, one or two large appliances a day, residents-only e-waste such as televisions, computers, phones and printers, mattresses and box springs on non-business loads, clean metal and up to four passenger tires a day. Kiefer also takes clean concrete, asphalt, tile, brick, rocks and stucco without rebar and no larger than 36 inches at no charge, and it is the only site that takes treated wood.Official guidance

Can I change a bulky waste appointment after I book it?

Yes, but the county asks you to call customer service at 916-875-5555 and speak to a representative at least one day before the appointment. Adding a special set-out item such as an appliance, e-waste, a tire or a fluorescent tube, and any change or cancellation, has to be done by phone, because emails and voicemails are not accepted.Official guidance
